looks like im gonna be a pit mechanic this year. gonna have to ride to the track with the normal clutch setup, and then switch over to the slider hat once i get there. shouldnt be too much trouble. about the same as the car guys that have to change their tires before and after each race. i think im gonna sell it next year and get a hays put in so i dont have to change it out each time i race.
what about oil? the bike has mobil 1 racing 4t 10w-40, but i read that its not supposed to have anything more than10w-30?
thanks for everyones help!!! it is very much appreciated!!!

Great Pumpkin.....What advice here is incorrect ?? we agree on the .050" air gap, but you say you need to take into acount the hat measurement. Not so dude !! the slider basket for a zx12 slider has windows on the side of it.....stick a .050 feeler gage in there, adjust as needed and thats it. So that means your info is incorrect.
It looks like your .035 to .040 air gap works for you, but your just twisting the throttle.... if you go on a 2-step with that air gap it'll sooo try and pull you through the beams.
I also disagree on the launch RPM comment....The more rpm the harder it'll launch.
I do agree with you burnout comment...let it grab rolling out of the box and it'll break plates. I don't want to get into a pissing match...just wanted to get Les into the ballpark with a base setup. There is more than one way to skin a cat
Les, It's a big deal to try and ride to the track and then put the slider in. I'm not even sure you can use that slider basket in the normal clutch setup ?? The inner basket is different etc etc...your better off to sell it and get some kind of lock up.

the way i checked it is measuring the height of the pressure plate to the hat (.055) and then subtracted that from the distance between the top of the stack and the top of the basket. so it gives me an accurate distance between the stack and the pressure plate.
and the basket works fine with the regular pressure plate and hub. i've been riding it like that for a couple days now. i could just throw a regular lockup snowflake on the top if i wanted to.
this race im gonna be hand clutching it. i fukkered up the oil resrictor plug when i removed it. im just gonna get a regular puller and chop it down for use in the slider to make things easier for me in the future when swapping setups. i've had the clustch assembly in and out so many times, it wouldn't be any problem doing it at the track. i would just need a backpack with some basic tools in it.
