Les...look at my earlier post...told you right there how to set the air gap !!
Shane....put the bike on a diet !!

i know how to check it. im wondering how the clutch behaves depending on if it is above or below the .050 mark. or is it one of those things that needs to be dead on for it to work right?

Okay, sorry. Yes you need to set that .050" air gap as close as you can...if I had to choose between tight and loose I'd run it on the loose side. no more than .060-.070

Basically, it affects the engagement of the clutch..........

Roy......., what 60 fts are you doing now? 330? 1/8, 1000, etc?

I will have a Hays Clutch in my bike very soon......, and am very exited about it.......

Yep, thats right at about right....,

You could bounce it out of the hole harder in the 60, but it might suffer in consistency........

Yep...what you said !! I bump up the stall speed and it does get inconsistant, breaks clutch plates and eats up the tire....... sooo the plan now is for a major diet. I hope to get it to 450lbs ready to race. the tank is being replaced with a 1/2 aluminum cell. just trying to figure out what I'm going to use for a tank shell.....Bonnie will make me a shell of the pro-street tank !! That would look good with that 8" over pro-street tail that they make

Why not use the Catalyst po street tank shell/tank-seat combination itself?

Yes, Roy,

That has been why it took so long, is that weird stock fuel pump mounting, and they were scared that the old process was not strong enough. There is a new process now, that makes the tank VERY strong, and the stock pump mounts in it..............

I want one BAD!!!!!

Spoke with Bonnie who told me they inadvertently left MR9 in for a very very long time with no damage, however they do recommend draining race fuel and run non-ethanol fuel through the system just to be safe.

OK i have been sitting back here watching this thread unfold and some of the advice on here is correct and and some is not. Im not going to say names or point fingers but here we go.

Stack height= very important.
.050" is correct........ after you take into account that the pressure plate under need the hate stick out between .010-.020" . so you basically set your air gap between .060"-.070" and then take into account how fair out your pressure plate is. the looser the air gap the the slower reaction its going to have, the tigher the air gap the reaction will be alot quicker. I run mine between .035-.040" and im cutting + and - .00 lights allday no 2 step

Consistantcy.
A slider will do the same thing everytime no matter how high the launch rpm is. The higher the rpm does not make it break plates. What breaks the fibers is more than likely when your doing your burnouts you roll them out (even just a few inches) and then the clutch locks and graps shocking the fibers and breaking them. the #1 factor in making the clutch inconsistant is how you twist the throttle. You have to train your mind to just let it rip. ( see attached video)

My setup 66" stock motor hayabusa with gas and slider 185lbs rider
average numbers are as followed
60's
1.26-130
low 3.50 330's
mid to high 5.30's low 5.40's 1/8th mile
6.70-6.90 1000'
8.30's- 8.50.
i leave at 5500 with 3 washers on each arm

one last thing (until i think of something new): what about oiling? the restrictor plug that came with it looks like it will barely let any oil get through it. is there other options to keeping the pack oiled?

you will be just fine with the amount that comes thru that plug. just makes sure your pack is nice and soaked when you install them
