Yeah, thats why the Gann, Hays, Gen IIs are so good, based on thier different engagement, they will always go....., you can put a stupid set up in a lock up, and it wont move the bike.........

I Believe it is the gap between the plates when fully assembled... Les, if you go to mtc eng. website, they have some good info on intial setup. Go to FAQ section, helped me out with some terms and questions I had ...... Nox, I'll give it a go..6500 it is!!! Should I be using the high stall springs to launch at that rpm? BTW i'm at 17/46 (2.70).

you will have to play with it......
see what it engages like on the stand.......
just be ready for it........
60 ft is not as important as 330......., but.....
with a stocker, up here, i have run 3.78 to 3.80 pretty regular, and 5.80 in the 1/8....., on dot tires, shinko, and mcr.
more common on the mcr........
Good luck.......

Well........
At pmra, I REALLY detune the bike........, 1.53 puts me at 9.50, on my bike.......thats 3.9s in 330.
At home, if I lay everything I have to it........1.38s, and 3.78 to 3.80 in 330.......
To get to the 1.2s.......wow....., I know I guy with a NASTY motor in a 68 inch chassis, with a gen II that has issues getting into the 1.2s.......
Lots of power to get past that 1.30.
I am changing my set up later this year, after the last pmra event.......
I will release the details of that later on.........

Interesting stuff. So, ultimately the lock up is not giving much if any additional 60/330 ft...but more consistency, right?
I see quite a few 14's getting 1.3 range...in fact I've seen Ricky Grayson hand clutch 1.33 on a 64" ZX-14. I'm hoping to crack high 1.3's this year.
But I've not yet seen a 14 go 1.2's...so I wondered what it would take.

Well, part of the issue, is my home track....., it will not hold more than that on motor......, PERIOD. It does drop the 330 for most who have a bad clutch hand.......
Turbos only get 1.28s at BEST and that is a handfull of times a year up there......., and I have not had time to really test it at elevation in OK. We tried last sat night at tulsa, and the track was crap during the midnight tnt.
More consistent...., you bet. At PMRA , to run the 9.50 index, I slow my bike down, and I need my bike right at 7.90 in 1000 to run the 9.50. It ran it 3 times in a row, then two 7.91s after that........
I do some weird stuff to the bike to slow it down, but it works.
For comparison for others reading this......., the finish line at PMRA is dang near like my starting line at home........, me and Jr. walked the track, and seriously, its about that bad.......
On a race day at PMRA, I would love to really play with it, and see what it would do........
but, remember, we all know, 330 is more important than 60. I know guys that do 1.39s, and then only do a 4.0, or 3.95. What good is that........, 1.45 with a 3.75 on a same motored bike is WAY better...........
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yrNnCmQlrs0
1.47 3.80 on a mcr, 5.80 1/8
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KRvKt1b7A_s&feature=related
1.38 on a shinko, 3.78, 5.80, it would not hold the top, and started spinning.........
Different clutch tune on both passes........, minor, but different.............
What I run now, is way different, because of my wheels......, the cush drive changes alot.
And, like I said, a new set up is going to be tested.........., and if the home track won't hold it, we will test at Tulsa.

I'd have to dig out the slip where I ran against Grayson. The bike went 1.35 60, and an 8.57 if I recall. I want to look up the 330. Right now I am running mid 3.8 330's. Should be better, but the air went away. I have run 3.85 on a 1.51 in decent air, and 3.83 on a 1.44 in bad air.

But, sometimes this track will not hold two back to back passes like that............
I was on my way on the front half to a 5.7something pass after that pass on the shinko, and it let loose.........
The 7.42, it did back it up, with another 7.42, and then I loaded the bike........,
The track record on a turbo at this track is a 6.62 for comparison, and the bike had to have an air clutch to do it.........., outlaw cars cannot run 4.0s there, or 3s in the 1/8. But, its an hour from the house, and if I can make it hook and turn the rim in the tire, even on a shinko......., i can go anywhere and hook........
Running heads up is a different story, gotta push the limit all the time....., I have been doing little testing this year, other than minor testing to set things up to chase Bill Baxter better..........
Got things too good. Now it red lights on the pro tree............, thats a 10 min fix though..........
I feel the pain of the pro stock bikes now.........

Glad you are understanding the air..........
I had a 300 lb rider doing 8.0s at 1000 ft on a 1000, in the heat........
He was mad because i had picked him up two tenths......, but he once, in -500 ft air ran a 7.99........, the 8.0s were in 3000 DA air......
and same thing on a buddy with a 14, he is 240 to 250 suited, and gripes about 1.41s....., and 3.8s........., and he falls off this time of year.......duh, the air is 3 tenths slower .........., and it will affect the 60........

Yeah, I didn't expect to see it affect me that much. To run 1.51's and go 9.0x, and then run 1.44's and go 9.1...crazy! And that was with no bog after the 60, so I am confident it was simply the air. Everyone was down a couple of mph, and for me I figure around .15.
I want to get one of those Kestrel air stations...

Now, with your seat time, if you can hold on to the 1.44s, think what it will do in October........
Also, those numbers in those vids were in october, about 70 degrees, at around 300 ft elevation, in a river valley.........
but, there is more, i just have to find it........
but, like I said, I have some new tricks, and i like messing with new stuff. my multistage may be for sale come oct 4th after the last pmra event.

All motor, and supposedly a stock motor...BUT that was on a very cool day in November (about 45 degrees!) at an actual elevation of about 300 feet. So, the air was awesome...
That bike was also fairly heavy looking. I wonder what he could do on mine (around 460 lbs, race-ready) under those conditions??
