exhaust wrap

I have two exhaust leaks that I need to take care of.Problem is I have the DEI exhaust wrap on the pipes for insulation.I did this over the winter and now it is hard to align the pipes to the head ports. When I pull the pipes off,if I spray or hose the wrap, will that soften it up enough to make it stretchable?
