But, the early cases and late cases do not interchange, correct????

I thought you could not use both in the same bike......,

I need another set of cases to start building a motor, .......

If i was wrong on this, I have passed up a couple nice deals on early model cases.......

I have most of it apart and its BAD.
#2 rod bearing got toasted, it came apart and boke the cases, the rod slapped the piston skirt and even broke the very bottom of the cylinder. It also seems all exhaust valves in all cylinders were hitting the pistons ,can this cause a bearing failure ? It looks like the cams turned on the adjustable sprockets.

My buddy just put one of my 2002 pans, on his 2000, or 2001 bike, after he sent it off to coby........

sight glass goes with the pan, not the cases.......

pistons hitting the valves... im guessing thats very bad for bearings, when they hit, its got to squish all the oil out from between the crank and bearing shell right?
once i got my cam timing set i (one bolt at a time) cleaned the bolts and holes with brake clean, dried them, and put on some red loc tight. seemed to work last yr so i didnt change this build. some guys spot tig them in place. were you getting a pretty big boom on shifts?
