Wisco
Has any one used Wisco pistons in their 12? I have to rebuild my 02 and was woundering if they are good.

I have not used Wisco's in my 12 specifically, but they make very good pistons and frankly they own JE.

The Wisecos I've used on other bikes don't have the same taper design on the piston skirt as JEs and are fitted much looser in the bores than the JEs. The skirts of the JEs are much tighter at the base of the bore and should hopefully run straighter or rather with less rocking action than a straight walled piston which should make the ring seal last longer.

I think they do offer a "nos" specific piston. John Noonan could give ya the straight dope.

Ok I will thanks, so what would be the best NOS combo 1270, 1320 or 1361. I now J&E has 83mm,13.1 85mm 12.01 & 86mm 13.1 piston & rings.

I beg to differ the JE / Wisco statement about the tighter fit / taper etc. The JE pistons are for sure tapered. They rock around in the bore way to much in comparison to the WISCO. I spent a frigging fortune on a 1380 XX motor because of the shit taper of the JE Pistons. And it was only after WISCO built me 4 pistons (and people say WISCO doesn't make custom pistons!) that the engine quit having piston issues. My experience has been the JE Taper has indeed caused piston rock far more then the WISCO. I was reluctant to buy the MUZZY kit because of the JE pistons. It was only after seeing three sets of the JE pistons built to MUZZY's spec that I decided to buy the MUZZY kit. MUZZY's pistons from JE do not have the huge taper I have seen on JE's in the past. In the for what is worth department Wisco owns JE anyway.
According to Mike Velasco and his contact at WISCO, Wiisco makes NOS pistons for the ZX12. Thicker piston deck and the pin is relocated to offset for the thicker piston deck. As for which engine configuration is best suited for NOS I would go for the stroker. The reason being the 1270 makes it's horsepower at the top and near the rev limiter. The rev limeter can be dangerous with NOS (backfire into the airbox. The Stroker motor wants to be shifted at around 9500 to 10,000 rpm. So you are not on or at the the rev limiter with the stroker.
My two cents worth.

I know that you mean, I dont have an air shifter so I just burp the gas and foot shift. I have missed a gear or two and just knew the values were going to drop. But I was lucky, I guess my luck ran out.
