Orient Express Top Street Bike reports !!!
Orient Express Top Street Motorcycle Report

On April 4, 2009 RacewayPark Englishtown, NJ presented The Orient Express Top Street Bike points series race opener. 20 bikes showed up on this chance of rain 30-50mph windy Saturday morning session, with 15 bikes competing for points, trophy and the cash payouts! Due to the weather conditions E-Town kept all the racers safe with 1/8 mile Drag Racing only. The #1 Qualifier was Sean Walsh on his Mike Slowe prepped Turbo Busa going 5.27 @ 149. 2nd. Was Ken Thiedemann on his Carpenter motored ZX14 with a 5.81 @ 123. 3rd. was Ashon (arm drop) Dickerson on his D-Tech Gixxer1000 going 5.89 @ 120. Jeff Bowmann on his Busa with a 5.95 @ 121. John Martin with his ZX10 going 5.97 @ 123. The top 5 reaction times of the morning were: Scott Evans .010, Joe Kelly .014, John Martin .022, Rick Mazzola .044, both Tony Pasquale and Tashon Stepney with a .059.
First Round: Sean Walsh gets the #1 qualifier bye. Jim Totaro ran his 6.30 dial as Ashon Dickerson had motor problems. Old School lined up with Paul Racanelli and took the win going 5.99 on a 5.98 dial as Paul smoked the tire out of the hole. Tashon Stepney took the holeshot from Jeff Bowman but also spun the tire as Jeff took the win going 6.04 on hid 6.00 dial. John Martin cuts a .030 and took the win over Joe Kelly and his .014 reaction. Gary Candell left first and took the win as Dre Shearn spun and couldn’t catch up. Scott Evans put’s a .010 on Tony Pasquale and past him for the win. Rick Mazzola staged with Ken Thiedemann. Rick left first and ran his 6.21 dial for the win.
Second Round: Scott Evans put a .030 on Jeff Bowman for the win. Sean Walsh gets the win in the double breakout with John Martin. Jim Totaro red lit giving the win to Gary Candell. Rick Mazzola ran 6.22 on a 6.21 against Old School’s 6.04 on his 5.98 dial.
Third Round: Gary Candell took it to the finish running his 6.60 dial against Sean Walsh. Rick Mazzola took the win as Scott Evans spun out of the hole. Congrats to Scott and Sean for finishing up in this semi final round collecting their $60 payouts. Sean gets a total of $110 for being the #1 qualifier too!
Final: In this Final it’s a Buell against Kawasaki. Rick Mazzola dialing 6.23 on his ZX12 and Gary Candell on his Buell 1100 Rotax dialing 6.60. Gary left first as Rick caught him and crossed the finish line going 6.27 for the win as Gary ran his 6.60 dial. Congrats to Gary Candell for finishing runner-up collecting his $125 payout and trophy. Gary thanks Ocean City Harley Davidson. Rick Mazzola wins the 1st. Orient Express Top Street Bike event of 2009 collecting his $250 payout and trophy! On April 25, 2009 RacewayPark Englishtown, NJ presented The Orient Express Top Street Bike points series race. 20 street bikes showed up on this extra humid 75 degree day with 15 competing for the points series. The #1 Qualifier was Ken Thiedemann on his Carpenter motored ZX14 with an 8.55 @ 164 collecting his $50 payout and trophy. John Martin takes 2nd. Place on his ZX10 going 9.09 @ 153. Aron Vittorini ran a 9.27 @ 148 for the 3rd. spot. Jeff Bowman on his Busa goes 9.31 @ 147 and Old School sitting on his ZX14 takes 5th. with a 9.33 @ 147. The top 5 reaction times of the morning were: Tashon Stepney hits the tree hard with an .008, Sonny Goodwin .015, Tony Pasquale .020, Rob Guimond .021 and Rick Mazzola with a .031.
First Round: Aron Vittorini, red lit giving the win to Sonny Goodwin. Jim Totaro red lit against Joe Santos. Tony Pasquale cut a .020 and ran 11.06 on his .05 dial for the win against Paul Racanelli. Tashon Stepney put an .008 on Jeff Bowman for the win. Old School passed Joe Kelly for the win. Rick Mazzola crossed the finish line first against John Martin. Rob Guimond cut an .021 but couldn’t run his number as Ken Thiedemann took the win going 9.02 on his 8.97 dial.
Second Round: Ken Thiedemann gets the #1 Qualifier single run. Tashon Stepney red lit with an upsetting -.002 and ran a 9.67 on a 9.65 dial giving the win to Rick Mazzola going 9.56 on his 9.54 dial. Sonny Goodwin dials 9.56 as Tony Pasquale dialed 11.05. Tony crossed the finish first but broke out by.009 and the win goes to Sonny also breaking out by.005. Old School left first against Joe Santos and took the win by reaction time.
Third Round: In this semi final all 4 racers are sporting Kawasaki Ninja’s. Rick Mazzola on his 12 lined up with Sonny Goodwin on his 14. Sonny left first due to his 9.55 dial cutting an .015, but Rick was right there cutting an .031 on his 9.54 dial with both of them side by side from the 1/8 mile to the finish as Rick Mazzola edges out Sonny for the win running 9.549 to Sonny’s 9.53. Old School dials 9.35 and sets up with Ken Thiedemann dialing 8.96 as both are on ZX14s. Old School left first as ken was catching up and at the finish line it was a double break out with OldSchool getting the win by .013.
Final: Another Kawasaki final with Old School staging his ZX14 dialing 9.35 against Rick Mazzola and his ZX12 dialing 9.54. Rick gets to leave first and red lit giving the win to Old school running 9.354 proving that he deserved the win! Congrats to Rick Mazzola for finishing runner up collecting his trophy and $125 payout. On May 9, 2009 RacewayPark Englishtown, NJ presented The Orient Express Top Street Bike points series race. 13 street bikes showed up after a night of rain and a heavy clouded day threatening rain with only 9 competing for the points series. The #1 Qualifier was Ken Thiedemann for the 2nd race in a row on his ZX14 going 8.83 @ 164, collecting his $50 payout and trophy.
First Round: Ken Thiedemann get the #1 Qualifier single. Rick Mazzola redlit with an -.005 giving the win to Dre Shearn. Dr. John Martin lined up with fellow Long Islander Paul Racanelli. Paul left first but John passed him to take the win off the gas. Joe Kelly took it to the finish due to his .048 reaction time against Tashon Stepney. Ashon (arndrop) Dickerson staged with Big Jim Totaro. Ashon dialed 9.88 cutting an .024 as Jim puts down a .046 and broke out trying to catch Ashon running 9.883.
Second Round: John Martin gets the bye run. Joe Kelly redlit with an -.008 against Ken Thiedemann. Ashon Dickerson also redlit to Dre Shearn.
Third Round: Dre Shearn gets the bye run. It’s the battle of the blue Kawasakis with John Martin on his ZX10 dialing 9.01 and staged with Ken Thiedemann dialing 8.95. John left first and ran a 9.105 just edging out Ken and his 9.006. Congrats to Ken Thiedemann for finishing up in this semi final collecting his #1 qualifier and semi final payout.
Final: Dre Shearn on his ZX14 dialed 9.50 and lined up with John Martin dialing 9.01 on his ZX10. Dre cuts an .056 as John left the tree with an .085 but couldn’t catch Dre as he ran a 9.509 for the win. John ran a 9.09 @ 152. Congrats to Dr. John Martin for finishing runner up collecting his trophy and payout. John thanks Orient Express, his son John jr., The Kawasaki crew racers Kenny, Jim, Rick. A Big Congrats goes out to Dre Shearn for winning the 3rd. Orient Express Bike points event collecting his trophy and payout! Dre thanks Drag Racings Most Wanted Crew, capo, old school, b-dog, East Coast Superbike- Vince Rivera.

Raceway Park will hold its 1st Annual Motorcycle King of the Track Wally Race on Sunday, June 21st. Open to all Motorcycle muffled and un-muffled no bar street, wheelie bar drag bikes and Sled racers, who conform to Raceway Park’s category rules in Motorcycle/Sled ET and Top Street Motorcycle. This event will give Motorcycle King of the Track ET racers the first opportunity ever to win a NHRA Wally trophy during a King of the Track event at Raceway Park.
The Orient Express Top Street Bike Top Dog Bounty Race will be held on July 11th and October 24th and will pay double payout to any racer that beats a “Top Dog” or remains a “Top Dog”. This race is open to all Top Street Bike racers. The winners of each Top Street Motorcycle event are considered the “Top Dogs”. If you beat a “Top Dog” in the first round, you are now the “Top Dog”. If you are a “Top Dog” and make it to the money rounds, the semi finals, your payout will be doubled. The title of “Top Dog” does not carry over past the first person that beats a “Top Dog”. In other words, if the person who beats a “Top Dog” loses, that winner is not a “Top Dog”.
The Orient Express Top Street Bike points series races of 2009 are held on Saturday mornings 9am: June 6…July 11, 25…August 22, 29…October 24, 31…
Remember the 1st. place Top Street Bike points leader as of August 29th, will join Team Raceway Park at the NHRA Division 1 Summit ET Finals at Maple Grove in September!
