Bike weight
Okay,
At the PMRA race this weekend, I weighed my bike........
twice......
Granted, I am about 175 or so suited, as my leathers are not super thin.......
Total weight, of bike and rider.......... 575lbs
Bike alone........ 390 on the scales.........
Is this possible, moly arm, light wheels, light rotors, fiberglass body......, etc
I was talking with Bill and Joe about it......, and I let Bill sit on my bike, he will tell you it is light......, but 390?????

you should have weighed yourself on the scales and that way you could compare to a set at home
i thought your bike was around 440?? with the other arm and stock wheels???

I don't think it is possible, Nox. I know about what Shiphteey's bike weighs with BST's, etc...and I don't see 390 lbs. from your long bike.

I bet he had 10wt oil in the motor so that saves (4qts times 30wt savings) = 120#
and if you only inflate the tires to 10 instead of 40 yu save another 30# per tire

Thats why I was so heavy, I had 45# in my front tire and 20 in my rear tire, I weighed 825lbs at the pmra race saturday. I was 300lbs suited without the bike. By the way Johnny my electrical problem was the mps kill box, changed it out and my bike ran clean all the way through. I went 8.78@163 on 10# boost. Thanks again for the awesome tune!

It showed 575 with me on it........
So, it was very close to my weight.........
Thats why I had to ask the question........
If it showed me on it weighing like 520, I would have known something was up, but I have gained a few pounds....., eating salad every day gets old, and I am back up to 175 or so suited..., scales showed me at 185, and in some sweaty leathers, thats about right.
Weighed it twice, and I know my buddy's busa weighed 500 15 min later....., and it is heavy......
I lost a full 15 lbs taking my high pressure shift set up off the bike, along with the moly arm I just bought from Jack Cambra. I lost 15 lbs at least on the wheels this spring......, and have wave rotors on the bike.
Not sure where all this is coming from, but I will for sure weigh it again, and hopefully me and Dr. Joe can go down there together or something......, and really do some checking.....
But , if its right, that would explain why this thing front halfs so freaking hard after 60 ft with this little dinky motor......
I had -2 degrees timing in in this weekend just to slow down to 9.50, at Thunder Valley.....
something is up for sure.

Well, that would be about right, Jr.'s bike weighed 510 or 515 with a sidewinder, and that turbo is heavy......
We need to do some double checking at the next event....., for science sake......
and let some of the guys look my chassis over......, maybe I have done some stuff that would save a lot of weight for you boys.......

Nox, I doubt you lost 15 lbs. on the wheels. ZX-14 wheels are heavier than the 12 wheels (At least the rear is). I lost about 15 going to BST's. You have Magnesiums, right?
The front 12R Braking wave rotors are a little less than 4 oz. lighter than stock, each. The rear is probably closer to a pound lighter.
Was your bike empty of oil, coolant, and gas when you weighed it?
Also, what is the air like where you race? Seems slower than what we have here...

I was at PMRA, 1100 ft elevation for the track alone, before factoring air.
No, that was after a pass, right next to the ticket booth........
90-80 front tire, MCR rear. 4lbs lighter than a shinko in the back, and a couple lbs lighter than a 120/60 in the front.......
Forged Alum Marchesinis.
I have Galfer Wave Rotors, they are pretty damn thin, and light, over a lb in the rear, over my drilled stocker, and all. My arm weighs only 15lbs. Total with wheels and rotors I lost about 15. Bathroom scale, etc.

I'll be interested to see what you find next time you weigh it. Shiphteey's bike has the BST's, stock arm (should be under 15 lbs?), and a cut down tank, race upper without headlight...so that is what I am judging by.

Yes, it should be very interesting.......
I would bet that stock arm weighs close to my moly arm.......
I took the N2O mount out of it, and the air tank is in the arm, so I have no extra tank on the bike. Does he have fans on his bike? They are very heavy, and my bike came with two.......

Catalyst makes one for the 14 also; I'm just not excited about draining it all of the time...

Thats my main issue with it, is taking the good fuel out, and putting in pump gas at the end of each day.....
