PROGRESS!!!

As chairman of the TeamFatAss subcommittee "TFA AARP: All-motor", I am pleased to announce that we finally made it into the 9.0's last night 9.058@154.62

I am flat astounded how much my launching has improved by preloading the clutch. I still haven't gotten it mastered fo' sho' but the consistency is improving.

Charles,
I better get the 8.9999 fast, 'cause yr 1271 w/6" and yr svelte figure will go into 8's VERY quickly.

You are gonna have yr beast fully ready for the Shootout finale, eh?

ZRXD,
I am certainly not launching hard enough, but am working on 6000-6500rpm...

At 230#+ suited up, I have my challenges ahead of me

Just found out yesterday I have drill on that weekend, but I'm going to have to skip for once!! Got to make it to RRR to tune this beast before I show up and make a fool of myself. I know for sure that it won't hook up on the street with the 010 on it. Going to put the Shinko on tonite and see what will happen. Maybe RRR will be clear Fri nite so I can at least get a "base" run before I show up.
Don't make me spray this mo fo to beat you to the 8's.......

you don't need spray; yr narrow butt and the 1271 should do it (you have yr 6" ext arm, right?)

Dean,
the 330 was 3.925, 1/8 was 5.897. Unfortunately "a dog chewed on the 60' sensors" and no 60's were available. too bad, but I'd guess 1.50 +/-. My guess is that I need a 3.89 to get my 8.999999999999.

MM,
thx for the encouragement, I need all the help I can get! Any decision on your maybe trip to the Texas Shootout. I know its a long way, but we'd like to see you in action again.

Very impressive Mr 235lbs. The fastest I've been is 3.96, with a 1.49 60 foot. I had a couple 3xx on Saturday, but I should be quicker. I'm gonna go up one tooth in front and see if it helps, but I won't be able to race for a few weeks

I take it you're using Nutec. Have you considered pulling one rotor, or other weight saving? Maybe perching up on the passenger seat on the big end? You're so close.

Entropy,
You will be in trouble once you have run in the 8s.All the 9.0s just seem to suck after that.

Thanks guys (and that of course includes Angi!),
I am using the new Nutec, but am not using Intra's special gas boost assist (good idea). I have thought of pulling one rotor/caliper, just haven't figured out exactly what parts I need to do it.

Cowboy, you are sure on the money with your comment. Every time I get to a goal, its one minute of satisfaction and on to the next goal and another call to Dave or Curt at Muzzy's. Where does this end????

ZRXD,
you are going UP one tooth in front???

Yeah, my primary problem is keeping the front down through the 330. It comes up on the 1-2 shift and carries, if the juice hits while I am still aloft - I have to lift. I am running 16/47 now, which puts me through the traps at the tip-top of 6th on the spray, and 5th on the motor.

ZRXD,
so you are going to 17/47? Can you give some info on yr weight/hp/trap speeds w/ & wo/juice?

I recently went from 17/51 to 17/50 because I was running into the limiter in 5th. I really like the 17/50 but may go to 17/49 as a trial and see if the front end is more manageable in the top of 1st.

Weight 680ish, 165hp on the motor, I guess around 60hp from the 24N/22G - NX nozzles. Around 144/157mph lately. I shift at 11125 on motor, 10500 spraying.

When I first installed the nitrous I put an 18T on it - waaayy too much gear. I thought I wanted to keep using 5 gears, but no worky.

ZRXDean,
have you got a 6", air/elect shifter???

Juice will be my next step, but NOT until I can launch predictably and develop a lot more "track awareness". I'm an ole fart and this stuff comes slowly to me.

One o' these days I hope to get (and others) yr advice on wet vs dry, set up etc. I don't want my motor to turn into a grenade or aluminum smelting plant, rather something I can more or less depend on.

Smelting plant, heh heh. You should talk to Kevin in a few months - he's installing a sweet progressive dry shot on John's 12. Like King's, but 1 big stage.

The ZRX is 64", 6 over. Airshifter, strapped, shorter shocks, seat scooped. I have a webspace with all the details and info, pics, dyno, timeslips, movies, links, nitrous install, etc. For posterity.

OK - project almost done - I have slept about 8 hours in the last 3 days - I head to DC for a conference in 5 hours, won't be online til next week. Cya.

Chan Chan, supposed to have a stunt team this Friday at Hallsville. Last time had a really big sportbike turnout. Ought to be fun.
