GREAT Stuff King!!!!

for the lazy folks:
The AMA/PROSTAR World Finals in Gainesville, Florida is arguably the best and most competitive drag race held in North America. Racers from across the U.S. and from every part of the world make the November trip to Gainesville Raceway to battle against the best in the business.

Wayne Lawson and Dave Galbiati are making the voyage from Ontario and B.C., respectively, to the hallowed Florida dragstrip to bang skulls with some of the world's quickest street-legal dragbikes.

Dave, from Maple Ridge, BC, will ride the Lawson Drag Racing nitrous-fed Kawasaki ZX-12R at the World Finals. Wayne, from Brampton, Ont., is unable to ride since he's scheduled for shoulder surgery prior to the event. He knew he would need someone who could get the bike down the strip and was familiar with the ZX-12 platform.

Dave was an ideal choice. His own 2000 ZX-12 was the first West Coast streetbike in the 8's, utilizing one of Wayne's custom-built nitrous systems. He's also a lightweight rider, and has lots of

experience bracket racing streetbikes - he's a 2-time CMDRA Street ET Champion (1999 and 2000). The two spoke over e-mail about the idea of partnering up for Gainesville. When Wayne told Dave that he was serious, Dave called him up immediately. They finalized plans soon thereafter.

The two will meet up a week prior to the race to get in some testing and to familiarize Dave with the bike. They will compete in the Street E.T. class at the event but Wayne believes they have the power to be the quickest in the class. And with Dave's bracket racing experience, the duo should fare well during eliminations on Sunday. All in all, their main goal is to make some runs and to have some fun.

"I told Dave, I'm going down there to have fun," Wayne noted. "We'd like to run well, and I think we've got the power to run with the big guys. I know we're going to give it 110% effort."

Wayne has gone 8.76/171 on the Lawson Drag Racing 2001 ZX-12, currently the quickest and fastest street-ridden, street legal motorcycle in Canada. Dave has piloted his Maple Ridge Motor Sports 2000 ZX-12 to an 8.95/161 and won back-to-back CMDRA Street Championships in 1999 and 2000.

Quickest Street-ET at Gainesville, hmmm. I know there will be quite a few nitrous-assisted Busas and 12s at the World Finals, and maybe a few turbos, and I plan to be o-ringed by then, so we shall see who has the quickest dial...

Hope your surgery goes well Wayne, and good luck to Dave, I'm looking forward to November.

Gainesville won't be open for brackets the weekend before, although there is a Street Legal night Friday Nov 1st. You have to leave trailers outside the gate, $15, 7-10pm. It usually gets slippery from all the Acuras, but it's better than nothing if you need some passes and are in town.

There will be a $15 TNT Wed 6th 7-10pm, and an open TNT all day Thurs 7th, which I hope to go to as well, although it is spendy.

Jax is 1/8th mile, but I think they'll be closed weekends by then - they might have a TNT Tuesday nite. Their site is way out of date, but you could call.

Cool, a 60inch turbo ZX12? Killer.

For max passes. you could go the Gville Fri night, Jax Tues nite, Gville Wed nite, and all day Thursday. Could be that Orlando or Bradenton has races on Sat/Sun as well. Lotsa driving, but all for a good cause.

Both Orlando and Bradenton have bracket races Sat 2nd - Bradenton opens for TNT at 9:30am. I've never been to Orlando, but Bradenton is great - they treat bikes well. I've heard the opposite from Otown.

http://www.speedworlddragway.com/

Bradenton is a good 2.5 hours South of Gainesville Bergie. My family is gonna be in town that weekend, or I'd put you up, but I bet we could find a place for you to crash. There will be lots of campers staying at the track all weekend, and a campground about a mile away.

Sorry, got the weekends mixed up. Saturdays are usually open TNT from 9:30-2pm, then TNT for the race, so I imagine you could at least run til 2. You could head to Orlando after if you want a few more. Is Wayne's bike set up much different from yours?

Sounds good to me lets go now heehee. I think the bikes are setup the same almost I weigh 200 lbs to Daves 160 but no two bikes are the same and I hope to make a good show at the very least. We are going to have fun regardless and it is a long trip for both of us so the more passes the better I say.

No trouble Wayne, I'm psyched for November. Kevin's online from work somtimes, but doesn't use his mail much anymore. He's easy to reach- Stock, Mild to Wild Mon-Sat 904 389 1177.

He's been riding a buddy's new BUSA lately -- 9.50s pipe, mapping, slammed.
