nice bump in power, how much fuel did you add(roughly)? did you/are you going to try any other cam timing options?

added 12 numbers up top and around 20 in the 6500-8500 rpm range. I was a bit disapointed, I was hoping for at least a 30 hp increase. I aint going to mess with cam timing anymore, to much trouble to squease out a few more poinies. I am going to try some U-4 though. I know theres a loss of at least 5 hp with the heavy duty valve springs. and our dyno reads a bit low but still 20 hp aint much gain.
Was looking at his files, the highest a 14 has put down was 172 and my buddies 08 busa is puting down 186 on U-4 with carbon wheels.
So it,s not bad if you look at it that way.

ya shane I know I know, you hit it.
another thing, you guys with R&D,s tranny, do you have problems getting it into neutral now that the positive finder was removed ?
This thing is hard to find neutral, I have to reach down and do it with my hand.

i use my hand. but with a bit more practise i could use my foot to get it. what i found was simplest was to shut the bike off in 1st then click it up to N.
it sure makes doing your burnout in second gear easier tho, and no chance of one of those balls getting stuck and preventing the 1-2 shift.
Nox had issues with the factory pro stuff, just use the heavy spring

I've never seen those balls get stuck on 1-2 during a shift. With the way they operate, it seems almost impossible. Maybe I'm just lucky...but never a problem on my 12 or 14.

The balls were left in my ZX11 6 speed when race cut. No problems here.

this is how I got here. When I upped the spray to around 80 shot the bike would not shift, 3 times in a row and 3 bent valves.
shifted fine with 40 then 60 but 80, nope.
R&D said all modern bikes wont shift under that kind of load, so I sent the tranny to him for his massaging.
Ya he said stay away from the FP shift star, heavy detent spring is all I needed and used it.
does this motor need anymore time or can I go back to the dyno and spray the shit out of it ?

Yeah but the positive neutral finder likely wasn't the cause of the non-shifting....

How is your airshifter setup? You may want to look at that before this problem occurs again...

magnaflux and inspection
undercut
HD clips
drum mod
billet shift shafts
all of that was around $750. about as bulletproof as it gets whiile still keeping stock gears.

i thnk its about 450-475 for just the flux and cut. that should be enough for the streets

I bought the billet gears.....

Figured why not.....

Had my wire going to kill the coils come loose....., did not know it......., wondered why it was not shifting smooth, but we were at mokan dragway, shitty track.........

Come to find out, I made 4 full 1/4 mile passes, with no engine kill, just the air shifter........

Did not even bend the forks...... tranny does not have a scratch, drum has a couple scratches, thats it......

I just talked with R&D about the neutral finders on both the 12 and 14. I found out that the 12 is actually a better setup than the 14! For racing, though, you definitely don't want those balls in there...that will ensure that no problems develop.

People often report trouble on the 2-3 shift on the 14...and then with miles it "goes away". Well, it is due to the design and burrs formed on the shaft that will get worn away. I have had trouble with the 2-3 on mine...and the airshifter helped. But it is really a band-aid for a design issue.

So, from a mechanical standpoint, you should leave those balls removed for racing the bike. I would definitely investigate your kill time/delay/stroke on your shifter though.

Shane

Yeah, i talked it all over with Mark twice Shane
the only steel balls that should be involved are "the boys"
