FACTORY vs AFTERMARKET
mat mladin got disqualified simply because his crank did NOT have the factory markings on it
not because it was proven he had a lighter crank.......stronger or a different material
reason being when ford or suzuki or any large manufacturer order parts
they usually come off of different lines
no 1 machine or shift couldsupply the full run
even 2 CNC machines set up the same Will NOT produce EXACT parts
close yet NOT Exactly
this is ACCEPTED MANUFACTURING TOLERANCES
when a vendor for same motor is tasked or contracted
he going to make a run of parts a fraction of what the manufacturer uses
smaller runs more than likely come off the same machine & to TIGHTER tolerances
suzuki will stand there & hand pick the factory standard rods
the ones that are longer to get more piston "dwell"...............Hand PICK them !!!
yet they will pass muster at tech inspection as factory standard rods
& they are
some just better than others
that being said tolerance across any engine component varies
no less the exact reason same engines ame day will put out different HP
nothing new about that
yet when an engine is assembled from an amalagam of parts
those parts from that grab bag if assembled consistently will yield the best results
if you measure pistons 1 set or 100 you will find variances
if you measure rod length & big to small ends..... center to center
you will find differences stock or modified
if you have good gauges.........& are meticulous....................again nothing new
overall the very reason few parts...Factory or Aftermarket are plug & play
if 1 cylinder measures correct.................the others are still a lotto ticket
unless you check em

reading an engine when you take it down is as important
as putting it together
which tolerances increased.....decreased
if you checkout someseries you wwill see some parts dont fail
& many that do most good teams & builders realize its assembly
that little extra of knowing what to do ......& what NOT to do
& the nest teardown making the correct assessment

Well, I don't think you are trying to deliberately mislead anyone. It just seems like you only know the theory (to a point), and not the application. And you try to sell the theory like you know from experience...which seems doubtful.
That is why people are going to ignore you and flame you.
If you want people to take you seriously...let's see some of your work....and some results. Otherwise, you come off as just another internet expert.

motoGP has more HHP than they can use.......rossi didnt have the most last year

top fuel cars are running 1000 feet now instead of the 1/4
soon it will be less
the tyre are NOT rated for the HPor speeds
the NOPI guys are doing far better at MAX HP on engines not much bigger
& they use alot of what im talkin about
so when a guy is down around 300HP UNreliable HP & talkin smak
kinda gets my attention
if i built somethin to compete against anythin or anyone
i rather be slow than for it to net out like what ive been seeing
theory...................not
just good basic mechanicing
i aint putting together anything i can set up & measure
probably check it 2-3 times
& u think youd end up with a slag pile from that
would you rather have a heart/neurosurgeon with strong theory
knowledge & little experience
or a surgeon with little theory or knowledge
a serious problem these days in the states
hope you dont falll victim to that scenario
my theory ..... my results
even if i couldnt.......................better ask somebody
you forgot i said 4+ years international endurance racing
never a failure
in that era even tho many thought we were just riding around
we werent
6......8......24 hours near & sometimes below track records
speeds 130-185
thats reliability
i aint got nuthin to prove

years ago & i know some will remember
my POV was the 12 had the Worst airbox causing distribution problems
since then vindicated by many manfacturers
i even stated clearly the EXACT factors................THE FLAT FLOOR
yet every manufacturer changed their airboxes.....................& the 12 still has the worst
[of course they aint changin......... they dont make em anymore]
recently yamaha changed 1 of those primary factors........as i had mentioned years ago
the "firing order" by changing the firing order they changed the pulsing in the box
& the distribution
how did they do it...............................that 90 degree crank
which solvedquite a few problems
did they net out Smak Talkin badAZZ HP...........................................NO
but they did manage to mitigate several problems............no one broke more #3 crank journals when they raced the R7
crankwhip was 1.......firing order another [cars & bikes have had essentially the same 4 cyl firing order ]................intake charge distribution [ on the 12 with the flat floor all cylinders dont get equal charge .............HELL on a NOS bike]
& power to the rubber
now thats theory.................................its also Knowledge
there are at least a 1/2 dozen crank configurations today
big bang..... long bang [my girlfriend like both]
trying to net more traction.................................NOT more HP
think about it that 700hp 260mph Zook at maxton uses the
same size tyres as a 600
i could show you the cure for the 12 airbox.........rather simple
why bother when all you get is acrimony
vincent lives just a lil more than an hour away
i had thought wed bump into each other......... i could show him
maybe he would be amenable
what ive found is most racers are thin skinned
they like to blast & flame.........................kick other Plums
not very open to anything they didnt think up
believe me i dont need the credit
so compare a 12 airbox to a 14
or a busa........simply not as good

Point is this..., that was a blueprinted motor, I am sure........, at least had the cases split, and a cut tranny for sure.........,
It is the mechanic's job to make sure it passes tech........, if there was an issue, he should have called tech, and discussed.

I`ve spent the time on motors to take the required measurements and I`ve just put motors together with parts out of the box....But without a dyno I wouldn`t/couldn`t tell the difference,but either way they didn`t blow up....And one motor that I just put together without all the required measureing(I did do some measrureing) is still together after countless runs down the dragstrip....But thats the only racing I do....Maybe in an endurance race the motor wouldn`t last to the end,(maybe I just got lucky) but I only race 8 to 9 seconds at a time......JMO....

many do that & have great luck...................................buy a lotto ticket
others dont care because its the main ingredient to smak talking
yet if you look at the highest forms of racing
getting the most out of an engine & NOT breaking is the goal
while many dont like nascar those engines can run All weekend & very few blow
in some races they have far more wrecks that take cars out than mechanical problems
at daytona in july an engine might go 600 miles............................in charlotte MORE
lots of drag racers go all season long especially on gas............NOT top fuel
it can be done
most fine tune & fine tune & end up running faster by season end
if you are satisfied with your results.................................ok
just sayin thats not the only way & certainly not the best
