Difference in 2002 clutch

I was pulling my clutch apart the other day (looks great after 160 passes). I have a muzzy set up on my 2002 with a billet basket. I didn't notice much in the way of changes for the 2002 until I compared the fiber plates. Seems the new plates have much thinner raised fiber blocks, allowing more space between them. This may allow for more cooling oil to get into the fiber plates. I used the 2002 fibers for my clutch, and nothing else, and it seems to be lasting longer than any in my 2000. I shouldn't be telling everyone this, now it will be even harder to get fibers when I need them!

Did you test the spring tension to see if the 01 and 02 are the same? Was wanting to know if the zx6r springs would be an improvement in the 02!

I'd say the springs are the same. I put in the 3 springs that came with the Muzzy kit, and the clutch has a heavier pull.

I have an 02 appart right now...the springs looked the same (as the 00-01) to me but...I'll measure (spring tester) them...

I just checked the part numbers and the 02 springs ARE different...but

The ZX6R springs are stronger...for SURE...

Kevin, can you tell us the tension of the 00, 01 springs too and the 6R springs?

I wonder if the 2003 6R springs will be stronger still! (just hoping)

Gonna pull the crank now (building an 02 to 1361)...
