This is the good part!
We were all ready to go to the Texas Mile and I could not wait to see Doug and show him the bike and see what he thought. We trailered the bike down and parked in the pits. We did not know it at the time, but parked about 4 trailers down from Doug and Karl and their gang. Paul unloaded the bike and then went to see if he could figure out who Doug was. It wasn't long before he came back with a big grin and took me over to the starting area and pointed out Doug. I was about to pee on myself I was so excited. Well, Doug was great. I asked him if he wanted to see the bike and pointed to it. He recognized it easily because of the custom gas tank that he had worked so hard on and the custom corbin seat that he had made with his old motorcycle dealership logo on it. He actually hugged the bike, at least that is what it looked like to me and I took a picture. I was awe struck and so happy that he seemed to really enjoy seeing this bike again. He introduced me to Karl as he explained that this was his old Bonneville bike. I asked him if he would ride it when he had time and tell us what he thought. He said yes and i squealed! I was so hopeing that he would not be dissappointed in what we had done because Paul had really worked hard bringing the bike back from the condition that I had brought it home in. I knew that this bike really was not a street bike, but that is what I bought it for and that is what the idiot sold it to me as. Now all I cared about was whether we (Paul) had done this great bike justice and Doug's input. We went back to the trailer and watched people run the track. For a first timer I can tell you a few things that I observed. It seemed to me that a lot of people had trouble hitting the gears right or maybe it was something else but when Doug did his runs it was so smooth sounding and he seemed to really have the drill down to a fine science as far as shifting and stuff like that. I dont know what makes you good on a fast bike but if it has anything to do with how it sounds and when and how you shift.......this man has it down. I rode the bike down the pits and checked out all the cool cars and bikes and had such a good time talking to people and taking pictures. After a while when Doug had done his last run of the day I walked over to his pit and flipped him the keys. He got a big grin, grabbed his gear and announced to every one he was going to ride his ZX-11. I got to hold his 200 mph bonneville cap while he was gone and yes I put it on and had my picture taken. I hope that you don't mind Doug! He and Paul talked a few minutes and then he pulled on his gloves and helment and took off on the bike. Man this was so cool, I would not have traded this day for anything in the world. As I heard him in the distance I could tell the bike was not dissapointing him at least that was what it seemed like to me. When he got back he told me that I had a bike that would still do 190 plus easily and that Paul had done a good job in getting it going and tuneing and all that stuff. You cannot imagine how proud I was of Paul and how much it meant to me to be able to meet Doug and get his aprroval. He told me that he thought the bike was now exactly where it should be and was in good hands. I could be wrong but I think he loved this bike as much as I do and he was giving me his blessing. Paul and Doug talked about the bike for a while longer and Doug told Paul more about the motor and some things that might need to be done. I am not sure about this conversation, but I am sure Doug would tell you if you want to know. All I wanted to do was get home and go for a ride. I didn't care how late it was I was ready to ride. Now there is going to be one last installment to this story and it is a real doosey. I will put it in writting as soon as I get a few more minutes to sit and type but for now I have this too say. Doug, I loved the shirt that you had on, It said.........."FAST....YOU DON'T KNOW FAST" and I probably don't, but on this bike I have damn sure rubbed elbows with it.
Below is a link to the pics I took at he Texas Mile and some other pics of the bike.

Thanks for telling that story Brenda. I am very flattered by your comments, and I can't think of a better home for my bike.
When I originally sold it I was dissapointed that the buyer did not apppreciate what he had. You really deserve to have it.

Thank you so much Doug. Do you think I should tell the rest? Or at least the rest up till now. I kind of feel like I should. But I don't really know what to say. Any suggestions?
