5th Win of the Season!!

Hey guys, and gals. just wanted to let everyone know that last night I Won my 5th event of the season!! It was a great night for racing the air was great. first round got a lucky pick and the guy killed his bike coming off the line, which is good because I wanted to see how far out I could slip my clutch in first gear. good 100' or so. 2nd round I "Lucked" out and drew the fastest Dragbike at our track(who is in 2nd in points by the way). well I knew he would be on his game, if he would beat me he would go into first in points. I knew the bike would run low 6.2's(1/8th mile track) but I wasent sure if my clutch was going out after the last pass or if it was me? so I threw a 6.30 on hoping to split the times. Well I left the line (.518 light) and the tire lifted about 8-10" and just hung there all the way through first, when my shift light came on, I plugged it and then the tire came down. it was a crazy ride. at the end of the track I dumped and then saw him and cranked back into it. here is how the run looked
Me .518rt 6.310 on a 6.30 dial
Him .508rt 5.392 on a 5.36 dial
I beat him across the line by .015-.018? Great Run!
next round had the bye. good pass ran a 6.24
semi-final ran a good street bike and treed him .530 -.610 dumped after I passed him, and in the final raced one of my best friends "Chad Winters" and I beat him. he broke out by .018... so it was a great night for the Mad Mike race team! so far this season I have been in 7 finals, and won 5 of them. broke out in 1 loss and red lit in the other.

Good job Mike. I made it to the finals last night only to have mechanical malfunctions...AGAIN!! The part that really makes me sick is the perfect .500 light only to have the bike fall on its face about 10 feet out (think we hurt something). 8 finals this year but only 2 wins...damn gremlins!!!

Good job MIke! 13 finals, won 10 for me. (Two $1000 races at Byron too) Looks like I'll qualify to go to the IHRA team points race at Cordova representing Byron, but it's 1/8 mile this year, no offense, but 1/8th mile is lame. I don't think I'll attend.

1/8th mile is lame?? dude you better wake up! Todd your a damn good racer! but the best racers that I have ever raced agenst (bracket) are awsome 1/8th mile racers. why do you think 1/8th mile is lame? because you cant sandbag? and play the big end. you have to dial what your bike will run, dude I know you keep track of EVERYTHING! and you can tell me what your bike will run probably on every pass!! I could call you right now and tell you what the temp is, what the pressure is, and what altitude we are at and you know what I bet you could tell me what your going to run!
The IHRA finals your competing agenst the best of all of the Div. 5 racers, it is for $1000 and an "IRONMAN" maybe racing means something diffrent to you then to me, but that trophy alone would be worth it! If you have the chance to go to the Final's man you should go dude not only is it racing, it is a hell of a good time! and 1/8th mile or 1/4 mile, dude it is only 1 gear click and 20-30mph?? yes of course I love racing the 1/4 mile but I personally would race a 60' event if they held one! congrats with your wins this season, and good luck the rest of the year.

Hey Mike, don't get me wrong. I know there are some great racers who race 1/8 mile all the time. I just don't like it because it puts more emphisis on the start and the 60'. When competing against drag bikes with a street bike, I'm giving up two of my major assets. One is the top end speed, and the ability to use it when "playing the big end" with awsome brakes. The other is the way the bike runs consistant through the second half. No doubt, if I raced 1/8 all the time I'd most likely be a better racer. As for where the better racers are, we'll just have to see if your team can come down to Cordova and kick Byrons but.
