Qualifying times from INDY

Just wanted to post a little for those that didn't make it down.

Weather was awesome today. Bright, sunny, no clouds, medium humidity and upper 80 degrees I'd guess.

First run for Street/ET was, oh,....I dunno, around 10:30 or so, then we ran again later around 2:00-2:30. I wasn't really looking at a clock.

My two runs were really decent, but with a kinda slow 60' as I tried to feather the clutch to kill a little wheelie in each run.
Run 1 Run 2
60' 1.615 1.624
330' 4.125 4.147
1/8 et 6.173 6.191
1/8 mph 120.4 120.49
1/4 et 9.444 9.470
1/4 et 149.45 148.85

I believe the hotter air hurt me a little bit on the second run, and unfortunately, I had 2% extra fuel added in my PC3R. It's out now!
There was also a slight headwind on the morning run for sure. Enough to make the flag stick out.

Traction is good here too!

MadMike is running again and will probably put me out in the first round. hehe. (no way I'm lining up against him!)
Haven't seen EdBadAss12 yet, not sure if he's coming or not!
Met KAWBOY (Dan) today too. And his son Chad, running in 600SS. Kid is good. He may easily be #4 at the end of this year by beating Keith Thompson and, wow, that's an accomplishment. Congrats Dan.

Gotta go!

later all.

I SUCK!!!

Interestingly, I had NO TRACTION on my 1st round elimination run, despite my bragging about Indy's traction in my post above!

I spun right off the line (9.48 dial in), then the bike got just a skoche sideways so I had to let out a little. I don't like giving up, so I got right back into the gas quickly while I was still slightly out of the groove to the left. (of left cage tire marks) Most of first gear was me working first gear and LEEEAAANNNING the bike back into the damn groove. I must have been majorly frustrated because I missed my 2nd gr shift and had to give it a 2nd nudge.

I sucked. :-o Ran a 9.90 which, incidentally, was my competitors dial in. (he was OBVIOUSLY sandbagging it, I think)

Where was my traction dammit! Same temp, same tire, same tire pressure, same everything.

Oh well, I got my 2 timeslips from Friday qualifying and I turned them in. I'm Prostar licensed now! (my whole reason for going to Indy anyway)

Oh yeah, Mad Mike went a 9.72 on a 9.70 dial-in. (Most excellent, congrats Mike)

EdBadAss12 went in the low 9's and was a little 'off' on his elimination run, but he WON anyway! (Congrats to you to Ed. Trade me bikes again!)

Oh well BA, "that's racing" as they say. Doesn't make you feel much better, but what choice do you have. I developed a radiator leak somehow which became a steady drip at the line for elim 1. Tonite was for a Wally, so I was a bit put out. BUT - a good friend Cindy Merilees won it in street ET, and another good friend Toby Malphurs won the pro ET Wally, so it was a very good night.

Good luck to Mike and Ed - kick some Busa butt

2 ways to skin a cat:

#1: 7.96 @ 179, Barry Henson, Velocity Racing Turbo Busa, 1st round

#2: 7.96 @ 167, Jim Carroll, Adams Performance all-motor ZX12r, final round

Impressive stuff. Kent Stotz won SBS over Rickey.
