custom avatars are finally here
a number of people have asked about them and i finalyl got around to doing it. u can now upload a custom avatar if ya dont like any of the ones available. they must be no larger than 80x80pixels, no more than 6kbytes, and must be in gif, jpeg, or png format. i havent tested it out much so please let me know if there are any problems. my biggest concern is people not being able to view them properly in their browsers because of missing filetype info, but most browsers shoudl be able to work aroudn that.
keep in mind that each avatar uploaded adds bandwidth, so please keep the filesizes as small as possible. most of the system avatars are tiny, well undex 1k. u cant do that well with a picture certainly. if u are using a picture (jpg), turn the quality down. using the highest quality setting tends to make for a huge file but with little to no improvement in picture quality (it's just a characteristic of the jpeg algorithm).
happy happy joy joy!!!
