Compression question......

Okay, I have the full factory manual.........., and I know what the warm engine compression psi should be.........

But I have a cold motor, on a stand, and want to check the compression........., I know the reading will be higher, but what am i looking for , stock internal motor........

Just want to make sure all is good inside before I split the cases and swap trannies...........

Thanks.........., I would assume somewhere around 250psi or more per hole........., like 230 is for a warm motor.........,

Nox,
i would be real surprised to see 250psi on a stock motor. I see that at about 14.5:1.

Something nearer to 200-210?

like 2WW says, look for consistent readings, and remember to open the throttle all the way as you are cranking the motor.

as we tapped, a leakdown will give much more useful info

Leakdown test shows good...........

Just wanting to check all my bases........, other than being dirty on the outside, this motor looks to be in great shape, will check valves after breakfast with my daughter.......

No need to open the throttles........., motor is on a KnL stand......

Thanks guys.......

Valves all within spec, one exhaust is .0002 to .00004 out of spec......., nothing to worry about.........., time to put the valve cover back on, and take the tranny out.......

Basket, and clutch components in good shape, does not look to be abused......

Lubricity, ( it did not have a billet basket, you got lucky.....lol)

I hope the bottom end looks as good as the rest........

Yeah, I had it too........

But when you check it cold, it measures higher.........., we mainly just wanted to see how sound it was before I started pounding the heck out of it.........

Pretty hard to destroy one of these in stock trim.........
