PROSTAR AT INDY!!!

Ok, at the risk of sounding like a complete idiot, can someone tell me the "steps" that I need to take to make my runs at Indy to get a Prostar license???

As I understand it, I can make my 3 (or was it 6?) runs there, in the 9's and get my Prostar license? IS THAT RIGHT??

Do I have to do anything before-hand, or do I just mention that I want to qualify when I get to the gate?
I presume the weekend will be something like $50 or $75 or something, should I expect extra to get my license???

Do I need to be there Friday? (race starts on Friday, right?)

WHEN will they do these qualification runs? Do I get mixed up with a specific class?

Thanks for the tips!

Hope to see some of y'all there!

PS. Thanks to MadMike for the tip!

If it's like Gainesville you'll need to be there early Fri morning to get teched and make your first (of 2) time runs. I would call Prostar about the licensing issue. Street/ProET is pretty much the redheaded stepchild, expect to be treated like it.

You can call them at 256-852-1101 for information. If you are gonna run street or pro E.T. for just the one race you can get a temporary membership for 20 bucks instead of the $35 for the season. I think the license is around 60 bucks. The entry fee changes for different classes, it's cheaper if you pre-enter. I don't know the procedure for getting your license, just call them. Hope to see ya there.

Can you do it?!?!?!

Ang, it would be awesome if you and ken could make it there.

It's probably only about 5 hours from Detroit, right?

Hope you guys can make it down!

I should get me a special shirt that just says BA on it! Then again, I may be the only little fooker on a 12R!

I just spoke with Tammy at that number above, from Dan/OldKawBoy above.
Bless her heart, she tried hard to give me all the answers, but she was definitly struggling!

Anyway, my INTENT for getting some licensing is to bypass that damn $800-$1000 class and the time for travel and away from work if I can!
Then, when and if i actually race in Prostar, it would 'probably' be in the 600SS class.

According to Tammy, and since my only current bike is the 12R, I should probably enter the STREET/ET class.
Making my supervised qualifying runs on the 12R **SHOULD** get me a PROSTAR license. Heck, I don't even know how fast I have to be in Street/ET!!

After getting the Street/ET license, next year when I would presumeably have a 600, I could "simply get a Prostar License 'upgrade'" to the 600 class.
I'm not sure if I would have to make additional qualifying runs on a 600 or not.

Does anyone know enough to comment on all that above? Does it sound right?

Tammy also mentioned that you would have to have the Prostar license to make the qualifying passes: $60
The AMA license, which I think I need by Indy as well, is $39.

Indy's entry fee's are $90 if you pay by Friday,.....and $120 at the gate. (I believe)
Payment for the Prostar license and Indy event can be made via credit card on the phone at the Number Dan mentioned above. I presume getting the AMA is a separate phone call.

Anyone know the rules for Street/ET? Guess I will be downloading the rule book! Any advice on the rules would be appreciated.

Street ET is about as basic as you can get, simple ET dial your own bracket, and run what you brung, I dont believe that the street ET is 120 bucks? but maybe they changed it, I thought it was around the 50-75. mark, it is only 250 to win, so dont think your going to take a couple of grand home with the win, but you do get to be in the magizine Motorcycle Street and Strip if you win,(has anyone check out my spread in the magazine)there are basic rules for the street class, must have a kill switch, full leathers, newer helmet, gloves(leather) boots above the ankle, dont go in thinking that your going to race every couple of hours also. you usally get 1-2 time runs a day, with sunday starting elimanations, so I would suggest running the Pro ET also, but very tough class. but you will get more run's in. Indy is a great event! but go to watch, and have fun and even race a little. but dont go to race all weekend long and have the fans cheering for you. cause it wont happen. Well hope that helps!

We live a little closer than Detroit. It would only be about 3 1/2 hours to Indy. Ken and I have been talking about going. That is the weekend before our Birthdays so maybe we can just make a little weekend trip of it!! I'll let ya know.

LOL....I will not be hard to spot....I'll be in a wheelchair sitting on the sidelines looking pissed of because I can't race!!!

BA - shoot me an e-mail and I can make you a shirt with ZX12R on it. Your 12R is Red isn't it???...That way I will know who you are!!! zx12girl@yahoo.com

I think you're right Mike. When she quoted me those prices, she was thinking 600SS. I never got new prices when she started talking Street/ET so, if you have reason to believe that the buy-in is lower, it probably is! That'll make me happy anyway. Save money.
I dislike Bracket racing for exactly the reason you mentioned. Lots and lots of waiting. I really am only going to get the license, I'm sure I'll be getting pretty bored! I'm not really expecting to get very far in the rounds.

Ang, I'll get right on that email.

I was thinking you'd be on crutches, but hell, being in a wheelchair will make you SUPER easy to find!!
Nuttin' but luv for ya darlin, but just be sure you can handle the trip without causing yourself too much grief. When I had Knee surgery, I had to keep adjusting in the seat and it was a real bear. I felt cramped,....needed more room.
