Which peach
What ever bike I decide to do it will be turbo.
Keep in mind I am looking for a do it all turbo bike, and primary reason for considering the literbikes is their size, weight, and handling.
All the reasons the 14 is for sale. Busa seems backwards in that perspective, but damn what a deal, and the power! LOL
2005 GSXR1000 3000km totally stock , mint
$8800
I am partial to the zuki, as the maintenance appears easier, and I like the layout.
Better development HP oil pump, relief valve, stud girdle, low profile pan, and parts seem cheaper overall.
Needs stronger rods, and 04 Gixxer clutch set up to accept lock up clutch for turbo project though.
or
2005 zx10r mint 3500 km, all carbon fiber body except tank, with acropvic slip on
$8000
The zx10 has some big$ goodies already, better rods and more suited for a turbo project I am told. Lock up clutch is bolt in.
or
550 RWHP 2003 Busa with RCC Ultra turbo kit, NLR ams-1000, undercut tranny, ape head, ape crank done to the max, carrillo rods, JE turbo pistons with swaintech coatings on the skirt, and piston domes, lock up clutch, lowered and stretched 12".
The turbo kit, boost controller, and engine prep alone would cost approximately $17,000
Billet everywhere, over $30,000 into this bike for $23,000....
Yes built 550 rwhp bike for $23,000!
Clearly the busa is drag prep bike, I want a do it all bike.
the literbikes will cost me over $20,000 when done as well.
Do the a literbike, which one? or buy the busa reduce stretch to +3-6"
??? input ?
Help, I'm undecided

you can get 500 hp out of a zx10r with muzzy stuff....
the busa is a heavy bike compared to the litre bikes, i was looking at a few tens at the track, and was thinking "damn, thats like a 636" if i was the kind of guy that liked corners, i would have(want) a zx10r

I've got a different answer for you.............
I own a built zx12 with a lot of nos and its a fun bike for sure. The only problem is when you run out of juice you run out of fun. However, its a do everything bike. I've done track days(road race), drag racing, top speed runs, bike nights etc. The only problem i see with my zx12 is it needs more power...........(turbo??? wrong bike in my opinion) The 12 will always be around due to the mega dollars ive sunk in to her over the last 5 years. Im about ready to retire her to street duty, add some spiegler bars and go touring.
My other bike is an 07 gsxr1000 with a full pipe, gearing, frame sliders, 520 chain, dot race tires etc. This is a great all around motorcyle that i primarily use for track days. I have taken it to the strip for the fun of it and use it for short trips to the mountains. (Track days what a hoot!!)
I use to own an 06 zx14 but i traded it in for the 07 gixxer. I loved my 14 i did drag racing and have about the same mods you have Dubious. I even did trackdays and surprised a few folks and decked out the fairing on both sides. However, the problem with the zx14 in my opinion is it does not have the all Conquering ability i think the bike should have. I raced friends with gsxr1000's with bolt ons that would pull on me due to hp to weight ratio.
For 10 years ive been searching for the perfect bike. I've owned nearly all the latest and greatest bikes in the last 10 years( 97 yzf1000, 98 blackbird, 99 hayabusa,2000 zx12, 02 gsxr1000, 02 zx12,06 zx10, 06 zx14, 07 gxr1k). Ive had my busa built by lee shierts, 02 zx12 done by carpenter racing, 02 gsxr1k- kws)
Looking back at my previous bikes and sharing my humble opinion. If i were you i would turbo charge the zx14 because i believe a zx14 can still be somewhat streetable.(long wheel base, weight etc fun powwwwweeer). Soon my gixxer project will be finished. Then I'll be looking for a low mileage zx14 to do a turbo kit. Additionally, i would buy a literbike (probably a gixxer) because thats what you like and have a bigbore kit installed with the supporting mods, add a small shot of nos just in case and have fun. I think owning these two bikes would satisfy your every need for speed. Good Luck on your choice.
ps: I would probably stay away from the Busa only because its a single purpose machine and probably high maintenance.

mrsantafe:
Thankyou very much for your perspective!
I really appreciate it.
I would agreee completely with every statement made.
The only issue I really have with the 14 is its weight, size and the plastics....
I hate having to work on the bike due to the PITA plastics.
Like peeling an onion.
The weight can be assited with lighter wheels, lighter subframe, and losing the exhaust.
I figure I could shave about 15 from the wheels, 25 off the subframe and seat, and 25 off the exhaust.
That would bring it down to about 40-50 lbs heavier than the literbikes.
If I could only get around the 33 threaded fasteners required to acces anything under the fuel tank.
The busa is built right, You should see the parts list this thing has, is longer than your inseam, and thats just the engine build! if the power is turned down to reasonable levels, like 15 psi, it would make 350 HP all day for years to come. The money and time spent on the is bike is phenominal, and with a swingarm change and ohlins suspension, it would become an awesome bike for cannonball touring, and street riding.
I realise it will never be the twisty bike a liter will, which is really what I am after but the busa build shure is tasty , especially for the money I would save over buildinga turbo 1000 from scratch.
hell, it would still be cheaper to sell the 14, and buy the busa than to turbo the 14 i already own....
decision decisions
Thanks for your perspective, it will be a definite asset in my final decision.

It almost sounds to me like you'll enjoy the liter bikes the best but love the idea of the hp in the busa.Kind of like loving the wife for years but still want that sweetie on the side for an extra ahem... boost!
