Thx MadMike: haven't seen one of these in 6 years!!!
A Y2K ZX12 head with no welding on it, no burned/loose seats, no sloppy guides, no lil dents where pistons have been hitting, never been skimmed, no helicoils anywhere. Damn sure time for me to fuk it up.
Today it'll travel to Rick Stetson to be bored for Busa buckets. This poor pristene bastid doesn't know what it's in for
Thanks to MadMike for sending it to me so fast!
I owe you (another) one

Karl, whats the benefit of larger buckets? do the stock ones get rocked side to side a bit with your huge cams?
what kind of a port job will it get? the same as the one with Jims special seat cut? or a new test design?(with the same seat cut?)

the higher lift cams overrun the bucket and prematurely wear the cams. Oversized buckets cure it.
The port job will incorporate 2 critical dimensions Smallest Cross sectional area and throat to valve % as well as matching boots to head and a custom seat cut.
I am not experimenting, rather duplicating the excellent performance gained in my current test head on a fresh head.
Jim will be doing the work, and fine work he does.

Are we still talking about motors? Larger buckets are always better, regardless of what we're talking about.

the std Busa buckets are only about 1.5mm? bigger than ZX12's, not much weight difference.
Amazing that such a lil difference in bucket diameter makes a significant difference in cam wear on a high-ish lift cam.

Yep, bucket boring is very simple. We do repairs on bucket bores all the time. They can be sleved also if need be. We can do anything to an engine or cylinder head you can imagine, and even things you never imagined.
Karl, now that the stage 2 and 3 busa designs are done and in testing I'm starting on an all out HP head for the 12r next week. I finally got it scheduled in so I might actually get my bike on the road this year. I didnt have time to ride it last year anyway.
A stage 1 will have std buckets and valves with CNC porting and a new seat design. Intended for a 1200-1270 cc engine on the street.
The stage 2 will have Busa buckets (or KW), CNC porting, new seat design, o/s valves, and a much reworked chamber design. Intended for 1375-1427cc and big cams for all out power. It will need some ecu mods to rev to the peak power output and some lateral gas ported pistons to match. The target hp for the 1375 is 235 rwhp. We'll see how close we can get.

I am an Old Man and just trying to clear my filled plate! I put a lot of things on the back burner and it it taking a while to clear. The good news is that the plate is less full and I have everything I need to finish my Rag. I hope to be ready by September or at least October. If I am not right I am not going anywhere
