Going Over To The Dark Side

Yep fellas, looks like one last time to tune the old 12 to 215-220HP N/A and run the Mile in March. Then It'll be retired to street duty.

Bro and I will hopefully have a designated Busa this coming Monday to build and run. Maybe Big motor or turbo undecided yet.

Might be ready to run at the Mile in October.

Old Busa's are cheaper, turbos for busas are cheaper, plus I have a
nice stash of parts for a big motor Busa. It was always in the cards,
just did not know when. I was delayed when my brothers motor blew
a couple years back so he got Dave O's head, Carrillo rods, 84mm Pistons,
and R&D Trans with Yancey's old OD gears. Its taken a little time to collect
a couple parts back and will still need some more as well. I have a set of cases,
5mm and 8 1/2mm over Busa cranks with rods ready to go along with a few other
goodies. I still need to have trans cut, head ported, and pick up some new pistons.
or sell some stuff and pick up a turbo...................but I sure like big motor N/A bikes.

sell it all and pick up an 06 14. tear it apart and put it together with a turbo and make 650 hp
or just do the easy thing and build a busa
either way, you will still have a damn nice street bike
good luck!

Let's see a picture of said tank. I'm looking for something like that as well. Is it the catalyst so-low tank?

You can't beat the busa when it comes to cheap parts.
If i do another race bike it will be a suzuki!
Kawi parts cost twice as much IF you can find them.
Good luck with whatever you do to the bird.

MM how are things in Iowa, Hope the family is doing well.
I hear ya on expenses. I am about tapped out.

With that said, Its an older Busa without a motor. It will hopefully
be delivered to Bro's house on Monday. We will be building the
motor from scratch. Quite a bit will need to get done for it to be
right, so it'll go slow and be at least October 08 before things
are buttoned up and running.

No worries, I'll be running the Old 12 in March. I am hoping for
201+mph. If I get over 205, I'll retire the bike to street duty. If
I don't get 205mph this time out I'll see about a 100shot or
120 shot of juice to get me there and a little extra........................
..........Just have to catch JC in a crazy mood to let me do it.

Bro will probably not run and wait till Oct to run. He has more
patients than I do. I however will still try to convince him that
the new tank will help him with aerodynamics to gain 12mph
and hit 200.

it wasnt that bad last night. about -5f. it has been down to about -30f a few times though. take another 10-15 degrees off of that from windchill, and you KNOW COLD
and suprisingly it turns out my car will in fact overheat very fast in those freezing conditions after i hit a big chunk of ice and busted the rad last night. stopped and thew snow on the motor a couple times, even filled the whole area in around the motor and it still was off the temp guage in the red... had to get a tow home.....

Dr. Gary, Since you are already there and there is something different about you Guys, Why not put the Supercharger on the Busa! The Kits are already made for them and a SUpercharger is a LOT easier on the engine and if you do blow up something no damage to the Blower not to mention the less heat on the exhaust side and Bottom end!

http://www.tts-performance.com/catalog/product_info.php?cPath=509&products_id=4210&PHPSESSID=3b40f9eb3ba38d2d81a5a909387aa399

FOr about $5,000 this is for you and there is a Larger Blower for closer to 500 HP. I would really look into this before anything else!

Gary, since its track only, have you thought about running it on alcohol to keep it running cool? (crank up the boost )
theres lots of turbo busas out there. probly not too many blown alky busas. i wonder if it would huff and puff at idle like a blown alky V8 in a promod (music to my ears )

Dr. Gary, They are a Very Clean install. Since the Blower is Centrifugal it is like having a turbo without the heat.

This is what I mean about a clean Install

Yep, I have considered it there is a fella here in the states that use to import TTS' stuff. i think it was California superbikes or something like that. i have his site in my favorites.

There is only one problem, I still have a warm spot in my heart for N/A motors.

There is plenty of time for my bro and I to talk things over and see what he would like as
well. Thats the great thing about a designated bike, no hurries and you can run different things if you get bored with one application.

Great pics and thanks for the Ideas.

How is the Nos 12 doing Mr. Hill?
