so i was thinking about ways to lower the bike more today. i remembered seeing pics where the shock linkage was about the lowest point of the bike. the muzzy sidewinder will have tons of ground clearance, and ill be cutting the oil pan to match it for clearance. so i was thinking about flipping the linkage upside down since i was going to make a custom mono strut anyway, and maybe make a set of dog bone to set the proper height. well i came up with something much easier and very simple!
no strut, no linkage, bolt the links right to the frame

the links are 2 and 4 inch drop for stock length bikes when used normally. i think it should work out pretty well with the slick, i think it will be pretty tight to the undertail

and my bike to compare

i put these pics in the braced extensions thread too...
all black marker lines will be tig welded

and the old man has been playing with paint we had some stuff to fix and decided to go with a cheap black paint job rather than trying to replace plastics. we fixed some cracks with fiberglass and bondo, and also got rid of the front turn signal mount area and just make it nice and smooth. who needs signals on a drag bike? :P
hes just about done painting now. not bad for spray paint

longer bars are smoother........, but that will work.

you may find, that you may want to have a set custom made, that are about 70 or 75 inches long, to give you a set of 64 inch bars..., from axle of bike, to axle of bars.......

makes the launch smoother.........

Get it together, and lets make it haul the mail........

Just remember to get with me a month ahead, so I can give you a couple of special part numbers to order for the lock up, that you do not have in that photo........

oh i just wanted to mention that because i had the part that holds the brake bracket welded in place, it limits the adjustability from 4-9 over to 7-9 over. normally you unbolt it and flip it around for the shorter setting, but now you cant. no big deal on this application, but its too long for street use where 4 over is ok.

also started dads oil pan. ill be gaining a little more than 2 inches of ground clearance (matched to the muzzy sidewinder for ground clearance), and ill basically be copying the coby pan with added volume to the side and added baffles

so if memory serves me correct, the brock sidewinder and coby adams pan give you the same ground clearance, but the muzzy sidewinder is supposed to be a bit better for ground clearance.
i did a bit of work, and all the above is true.
the red line in the pic is where the bottom of dads pan will be (pic of a coby pan)

I saw that you have the bike strapped down to the table. You need a Baxley chock. It holds the bike stable. Take a look at the "Backyard Garage" page at a group buy.

ok, this is what im thinking of for baffles in the new section of the pan. im thinking the oil should follow the red arrows during the launch and the blue arrow in the shutdown area. only the middle piece will be welded to both sides to seal it from front to back. the only way for oil to get from front to back will be a detour by the pick up. the circles will be drill holes
comments and opinions are appreciated

Scott I wouldn't drill the holes in the front , forcing return oil in the primary sump.
move the other two in front of the baffle. Careful about the size of those bottom holes
If they are too big your oil leaves the pickup when the bike leans to the right.
Maybe over kill but my thoughts are hot oil before no oil.
If oil fall into the new addition, it must come to the pick-up thru that little hole(s), remember they work both way getting oil in and out of the sump wanted or unwanted.

Can't tell from the picture, but I looks like the front holes would provide an excape route for oil in the primary sump on decel.
I hope you can use some of this, I'm not tring to be a smart azz.

hey Gerard, promoting discussion about how to do this the best way is what im after
here is my reasoning behind my build idea.
the 2 holes in the front. well i put them there because thats where they are in the coby pan. maybe this isnt the best place afterall?
the other 2 holes, im not exactly sure where you are talking about as i have 3 baffles going into the bottom of the new section
the holes that will be in the vertical wall beside the pick up...im kinda guessing at that, but im going to try and use "coby sized" holes. leaning to the right isnt really an issue as this is a drag only bike. remember it has a 7 inch MT on the back and wont really be doing much turning at any sort of speed.

the coby pan:

I was referring to the the previous post pictures where you said red circles will be drilled holes. The front of the pan (left in picture) has two circles .
The other two are a the bottom of the same picture, looks like they would be better on the side with the red arrow. IF you can copy the coby pan you can't loose.
