ZX11 Clutch mods
Looking to pick the brains of any ex-ZX11 racers. I have upgraded the smaller clutch in my ZRX to the larger ZX11 setup using a billet basket. I have noticed that with the enclosed basket this clutch runs a lot dryer and is more grabby than the orginal open basket. What can I do to get more oil to the plates? 4 small oil holes have been drilled through the hub but doesn't seem to be doing much. Also any recommendations for a lighter solid hub? I have been told that I can run an older ZX10B hub but afraid to spend the money and try it since the ZX10B used smaller diameter clutch plates.

I have to oil the plates individually on my ZX-10R to ensure they don't run dry..takes about an hour or so.. do it enough times qand it's not hard to repeat...
you might find a better solution....what I do works for me...and other ZX-10R owners who care to avoid dry plates for a weekend at the dragstrip...try it and see...it works ..for how many passes can't tell exactly of course...but dry plates is bad.. eats up fibers and probably warps steel plates eventually...
have fun!!.

I am not going to go through the trouble of pulling my clutch cover every pass. Was hoping someone had some recomendations on improving oil flow through the basket.

Did not say every pass; before a weekend at the strip yes..... one time per weekend.. just an idea that work short term and needs repetition to the best of my knowledge .. up to you of course what you want to do...
good luck...

Teddy...is there any way of tapping a oil line and spraying it back on top of the basket with a small braided line tapped into your clutch cover....just like the R1 clutch "fix"...?

That wont do me much good. I'm running a billet basket. It's solid.

Then i guess with out drilling holes in the basket there's not a easy way to get oil on the clutch pack. I know, I know...i wouldn't want to drill my billet basket either but if there is no way of getting oil shot back into the pack then i dont see any easy way of doing it.
Good luck,
Shaun

The oil going to the clutch is coming out of the input shaft on the transmission. It may help to add a lot more holes to the hub. That's what it takes for zx12 clutch to live. There's roughly 30 or so evenly spaced holes to help distribute the oil to the pack.

Thanks Ken. That's the type of info I'm looking for. I drilled 4 or 6 holes in it matching one of Carl's hubs I used to have but I guess I need more.
