other than a slightly harder lever pull, I don't find that the Muzzy clutch feels any different than the stocker.
As far as waiting between passes, IMHO that depends upon how hard you are working it, but waiting beween passes is the basic key to making the clutch last.
Having a Muzzy clutch doesn't help it last a whole lot longer if you slip the shit outa the clutch and hot lap , although the thicker steels and better oiling surely give some more life.
On second thought, ignore everything I say; I am exactly the wrong person to give advice about clutch life because I AM THE ANTICHRIST OF CLUTCH LIFE!!!! Ron Ayers worships at my church of the snap & slide and gives me free T shirts every couple months for me buying so many plates.
Chill out between passes, relax, have a beer or two, let the clutch cool down.

Snap & Slide!!!
entropy...Would you care to explain the Snap & Slide!!!
I need some help, I keep bogging after the launch... I know, i'm not twisting the throttle enough!!! It's hard to find that smooth transition!!!

Crotch, Ive found that some guys dont bog if you have the fast idle lever pulled back. This way the bike never goes below 3grand and allows you more *clutch* concentration.
(if that makes any sense)
Personally I dont even use the tach anymore. Id say I leave at 6k or so. Im laid out over the tank too. My 60fts are consistant 1.70s on stock height/stock wheelbase.
Im working on reaction times and 330s now. (both pathetic...lol)

CR,
"snap & slide" did 2 things for me, a 1st yr MC drag newbie:
1. got my fat ass and stock motor/arm into 9.6's after I had been solidly locked into 9.9's for months,
2. made me a "platinum" customer of Ron Ayers for clutch plate purchases.
S&S consists of:
- staging at 4500-5000 rpm steady,
- hunch down, with chest right on the tank; REAL IMPORTANT. It puts a crick in my neck, looking at the lights thru the screen, but stay on the tank
- SNAP the clutch fully out (but don't let go of the lever yet), feel the bike bolt outa the hole; it'll jolt yr butt hard
- after it jumps off the line, squeeze the clutch just a tad to allow slipping, bring the rpm up to 9000 or so
- use the clutch slippage to keep the front end more or less down, feeding more throttle as quickly as you can,
- bang 2nd at 11.2-11.4
- ride out the gears to VICTORY
I have gone into the clutch so many times I finally trimmed the fairing anound the clutch cover so I don't have to take the r lower off to R&R plates.
Now that I have a 1361 and 6" arm, I don't use the S&S technique as much, but it sure helped me with the stock set up.
Thanks to Joey from Dallas who told me about S&S

Steve, that sound like a good idea!!!
entropy...The Snap & Slide technique sure sounds good on paper!!! When you snap the clutch out at 4500rpm it doesnt wheelie??? I will try it but I am going to be nervous, because I dont want to loop the 12!!!

CR,
S&S... No one said it was easy...
If you snap out the clutch hard and then almost immediately squeeze it a little to slip it, it will not wheelie too much. But, sit up a little and it WILL wheelie. Slide back on the seat (I put a step in mine) and it WILL wheelie. Too much throttle and not enough slip and it WILL wheelie.
So, do NOT use this technique until you are comfortable with the bike's wheelie prone nature. It SURE does want to wheelie, and only the amount you are slipping wrt throttle position keeps the wheel floating or skipping rather than a monster wheelie.
I have a large dent in the lowest of my header pipes from too much throttle and not enough slipping; giant crashing landing from a vertical wheelie at near the top of 1st. I am NOT an expert. It took me a couple hundred passes to get more or less comfortable launching, and I still am not 100% there even after 400+ passes in the last yr and a half.
Be careful dude, and have fun. A tenth or two is not that important... (am I a lying SOS or what? )

thanx for the help
I was actually practicing "snap and slide" today and it was more like snap and wheelie, but I think I'm getting the hang of it.
Thanx again.

entropy...I know that the 12 is VERY unforgiving!!! I also have the same dents on the header, but with the oil pan scraped too...I will try the S&S at 3500rpm and see what happens!!!...I have a custom seat that holds me in no sliding back for me...I'll let you know how I did next week...Thanks...
