Karl, Please read my Note to Ali and follow my Advice! You guys are making me SOO Tired!! When I saw the pistons, I did not like the SHARP Edge as a point of Detonation. Never thought about spark plug issues! Use a Copper indexing washer to move the plugs Higher or use a Surface Gap Plug and then no clearance problems!

I'm only 59 so I have plenty of energy to pull all nighters in the garage
I hear you about the sharp edges, and they were "fixed" at the same time I clearanced the PTP gap. TimChin and you are aligned that surface gap plugs may be the next step if my clearancing isn't sufficient. Copper indexing washers??? hmmmmmmmm????
woppi
I have been into this motor WAY too many times but every time i learn something brand new, and I oughta buy headgaskets in the giant value packs LOL

Sometimes people read the words and sometimes they read the Thoughts. "MY" Words can be farily hard at times but to the people that can read my thoughts a lot more is understood!
Mr. Karl, !str mistake is on you but the second time around, No force of Nature was going to get in the "Envelope" to remove those Oil Squirters It only took me 10 minutes to break in! I was Impressed!!
The Indexing Copper spacers were used in the day of having the Open gap of the spark plug facing the incoming Fuel / Air Charge. Each one is a few thou. different in Thickness

Karl, I'm impressed that your shipping impressed Mr Hill.
I thought I did a good shipping job until I saw how he shipped it back.
Most people pack to survive a 10 foot drop. Vh packs to survive D-Day.
You impressed him, well you know what that means? JK.
Karl, you could probably get away with using double plug washer ,
But I'd check with the head off to be sure.

WOW Ninja 12! Only I have the Nerve to YELL at someone that is sending me something I need for FREE! But trust me on this, Double what I think is safe and you are "Starting" to get the picture of how he sent the Jets! The "Outside" Envelope was big enough to get MY big head into and he had it folded over twice! Inside that he had a Real Folder that was folded several times and Inside that was some Business Cards (About 4 of them and inside them was a piece of paper with the 2 jets tapped to it. Did I mention the Clear packing tape that covered everything? Yes, I was "Impressed"

Pete,
yep, quite different.
I had JE build me those pistons with deeper valve pockets and then build up the dome to keep the CR as high as possible.
The hi dome may screw with combustion dynamics??? who knows...
Tomorrow i go back to the dyno and see what happens.

What made me take a double look was the marks on the piston made me wonder if the electrode was firing off the piston using it as a ground.I don't know a lot about timing, but it just seems like not all of those marks were from contact.

BINGO!
First I had a hi rpm missfire with the short plugs. They definitely did NOT hit the pistons.
Then I put in the OEM NGK plugs which are .120" longer. The missfire got way worse and soon the motor wouldn't run at all. The long plugs were definitely hitting the pistons.
When i look carefully at the marks on the pistons i also can convince myself that i see marks not due to contact, but have been overprinted by the electrodes actually hitting.

Why would it fire to the piston, when the strap is grounded.
The fire come from the center out to the ground strap.
How can the piston be closer than the strap, especially when ignition takes place
BTDC.

i don't really have a clue what happed, i just don't want it to happen again
On the bright side, I have been (seemingly) systematically smashing every component on my bike.
Now I can add all 4 plugs to the list.

Good thinking 12. The only thing I could think of was if he was out of TIme (Retarded) for some reason. Remember this system has the "Waste Spark" so every time the piston comes up there is a spark.
