This is Ryan on the left, running his 'street' ZX6r, not his 600SS-prepped bike. He ran 9.76 @ 137 this weekend in Norwalk.

Just got in from Norwalk and happen to have the timeslip that my son got put out in the semi-finals against Ryan.
CHAD RYAN
60'...1.57 60'...1.51
330'..4.20 330'..4.08
1/8...6.41 1/8...6.26
MPH...110.5 MPH...111.6
1000..8.34 1000..8.17
1/4...9.99 1/4...9.80
MPH...133.8 MPH...137.6
This was not Ryans best for the week-end, he is truly fun to watch no matter what he rides and a fine young man. He will help out any of the 600 Supersport riders any way that he can. People like him really help the sport.
P.S. I believe he ran a 6.09 1/8th in practice while we where in Gainesville in March...Perfect conditions!!

Brickman,
Chad turned 18 in March, he started this year in the 600 class and is currently 4th in the points. I believe Prostar is requesting new members who want to race under the age of 18 attend Ricky G's drag racing school.
For more info go to www.amaprostar.com and check out their site, I think you can download the rulebook.

I was very seriously going to do 600SS this year, but back in January, ProStar was saying that a license.....a "Prostar" license was going to be REQUIRED in 2002. It was actually in one of those Drag Racing Motorcycle news/magazines.
After about 600+ replies to the thread at Dragbike.com, they started a "little" backpeddling but were still wanting the license, and thus an approved Drag Racing school from anyone with less than 2 yrs of Prostar racing. I'm not 100% sure how that turned out.
The last I heard was that they backed off just a little farther to say that the license would only be required *AFTER* the August race. (Indy?) (or, perhaps that you *had to have it* by August)
Their intent on that last stipulation was to "give people time" to get the Drag Racing School taken and get the Prostar license.
The school was $1,000 pretty much, anywhere you took it, especially if you throw in that there's only 2-3 that are "accredited" so you add in travel time and time off work.
So, let me see, I'd spend $5000 for the bike, another 2,000 in go-fast stuff,....$1000 for a crappy trailer and then all that time off work and gas money, food and hotels, what have you all for a purse of what? Not very damn much!
I wasn't about to go racing in a class that had an unknown participation future in 2002, so I decided to just sit out.
If anyone has the "latest" scoop, it would be very interesting to see how that all transpired,........if it has changed at all!
