Back from the strip...big improvements!

First off, I wanted to thank those that have helped me along the way, you know who you are.

Special thanks to big Frank for the 16/44 idea....went to 5 1/2 notch on the swingarm instead of 3 with the 17/46 gearing, a small but significant change.

Ran some low 1.6s (before my best was 1.65 done 3x)....even did a 1.61!

Ran no spray all day although I did add a fuel additive to help lean it out since I'm running so rich (nos map).

Trapped 151-152 NO SPRAY!!!! Best ETs were 9.40 and a 9.46 I think? My best time before that was 9.46 @ 155 ON SPRAY!

I bet had I sprayed I would have gone 9.2s @ HIGH 150s.....c'est la vie.

Todd and I had a great battle today....tooth and nail really being off each other's times by a mere tenth at times! He sprayed his 1000 in the end and got me w/a 9.38. Lesson learned: ALWAYS SPRAY!!!!!!!

I'm looking forward to lowering the bike some more, a 60 shot, and an air shifter....on a cold day an 8.99 just may be possible w/a little luck.

As a comparision, I ran a bone stock busa (my 1st time ever) just lowered....9.9 @ 145 (+1 on the rear, shifting at 11k indicate)....crumby 1.78 60 ft but I launched 3.5 or 4k instead of 5.

Jumped on Warp 12's bike (which MPHs the same as mine) and did 9.8 @ 149, high 1.6 60 ft....sure I can go better as it is just easier to launch his bike.

Feels good going 9.4s on the stock arm. I can't explain it but that wheelbase increase of a fraction of an inch really did make a diff IMO....better 1/8....better 1/4.....minimal wheelies....

Beware...the stock piston, stock rod 12 people!!!!

Just a little friendly advise, stay away from the spray until you learn to 60' that thing.

The Heavier Crank Shaft bikes ARE Easier to ride along with the Oval Pulley. It does take more Skill to ride the Original bikes and I Like that!

Those are great times,The older bike is definitely more of a handful. Ali,I can't take the credit for the 16-44 Rick turned me onto that! Why don't you keep at it and try some MR9 to see how fast you can go...Your light weight is an asset, once you master the snap and slide on a 2000 you will go fast on any bike....Keep Practicing!!

Yeah, zx12 richard mentioned that on the other board, but I guess I joined 3 years after he mentioned it!

While MR9 is an option, w/the say things went down last time getting sprayed on w/out knowing it was coming....I'm just gonna have to leave it at 93 and have the bottle armed just in case something like that happens again!

How many tenths is MR9 good for? .15?

Ali if you are mapped for pump gas I can't say what the MR9 will do,I just started using it and its conservatively worth a tenth-tenth 1/2 for me.I haven't enough runs with it though.Rick would know because he uses it all the time.

Thanks again Rick....I'm thinking about adding some weight up front ... saw a guy at T/T last Sunday @ MIR w/some pretty heavy looking weight on the sides of the forks. I want something inexpensive (don't we all) but tried & true.

I think some more practice...especially w/some significant weight up front could get me into the high 1.5s!

I'm resisting stretching the bike out....want 8.99 on a stock arm ... not sure why...just one of those things really.

I know what you mean about the 8.99...

I would like to run an 8.99 too with my 61" stock motor 12...So far my fastest is 9.11 @ 153 in 50 degree clear weather!!!

FWIW, Kristen ran several 1.58 60fts, with the 16/44 gearing, stock arm. The key for much better ETs, obviously, is that 330ft time.
