??NHRA vs ProStar?? What is it??

Rider? Motorcycle? Rules? Money?

We have seen Muzzy in this class with a Kawasaki, not do so well and then he ended up with a Harley (Buell)!

We have seen Rickey in this class and barely get qualified! (Now the same team seems to be doing fairly well (At least at New Jersey)

We are now seeing Barry Henson and he has yet to Qualify!

We all Know that if anyone knows Motorcycles, it is the Muzz Man

We all know if anyone can ride a Motorcycle it is Rickey

We all know if Building and Riding a Motorcycle then it is Barry Henson

So what does it take to do well in this class that these people are missing?

Got that right! CUBIC DOLLARS

I believe both Rickey and Barry are awesome riders,
but a bar bike is way different to ride and set-up correctly.
Given time both will do well, No Doubts!

Look at how big Ricky and Barry are.........

Also, their bikes half nothing data log wise to compare like the others do for clutch tune up.......

I have worked on Craig Trebles bike a very small amount at the track, these things are beyond high tech......., also, they have to weigh the same, but if you are tall, you cant hide like Angelle and Craig, and Karen can behind that fairing...........

Also, if you have to add weight to the bike, you can put it anywhere you want, instead of the weight being you............

Most of the Suzukis get thier motors form VH, and are not allowed to do anything other than tune the clutch and carbs..........

WHICH IS A TON...........

Look at Steve Johnson, he has the stuff, but is as tall as me...........

My 10 year old was at Craig's shoulder last new years eve.........

If SIze and weight are some of the factors, then how did Reggie Showers end up #2 a few years ago when he was racing? He is no fly weight and has no legs either! Like you said, they weigh Bike and rider! SO the Bike can be lighter! Yes I know that weight distribution is better with a light rider but then there is Dave Schultz and again he was no fly weight!

Muzzy had Ryan Schnitz who is light and highly Skilled and until the Harley / Buell they also did not do well

My question still is, what is the most improtant? RIder, Motorcycle, Rules or Money?

When Dave was doing it, they were all big......., relatively.......

Angelle made a new breed..........

Look how much she wins compared to everyone else........, do you have any idea of how much wieght they add to her bike?

They did not do well, cause they were on a zx12 based bike, and using a 4 valve head, so they had less motor, a lot less motor, cc wise.........

It is a package deal......, but, Rules at times, cant be beat........

For a while , the harleys only did what they had, a couple of years ago, craig told me he had to have a full bike on the harley at half track, just to beat them......., dont you think that torque should be out short tracking the zuk, hell ya, but they were conservative on the short have, cause if they had run them all out, they would have to add wieght, and finally someone did, and NHRA smacked the weight........

The harley is a joke, they use suzuki clutches, hell , even the dystroyer bar bike uses the same adaptor , to use a suzuki mutli stage ad clutches.........

Harley had the money, and NHRA made the change........

My father in law is very good friends with an NHRA tech........, you would be amazed at what goes one behind the scenes..........

NHRA is a business first, and a sanctioning body second.........

As far as weight, they want it LOW in the chassis, Reggie was tall also, and way under funded.......

You have to test, alot, and if you dont have the money to trash stuff, and find things out, you get left behind..........

If you have not been around it, it is very hard to understand everything.........

They try to make it seem simple on TV........., you should see how they seal the airbox, (body is the airbox), duct tape everywhere. In 4 passes one night helping craig, I bet we used almost a whole roll of duct tape, I had the clutch out of that stupid thing 5 times, Its a ton of work for two guys to get it ready to run again in 45 min, They pay over 25thou for a leased motor, and use it only 20 to 25 passes...........

Do the math

I think with the new weight limit, anyone can do it, with the right set up, and run 7.20s, but 7.20 wont cut it anymore.......

Go stand around these guys, no one is over 5 10, except steve , and how much does he win?

I Remember seeing Chip Hunter! He would have to add weight to be a Jockey for Horse racing!

I know it is a tough deal and I also know that the only thing on a Harley or Buell that is them is the name plates and that they are a V twin!

Chip Ellis (who rides a S&S powered Buell for G2 Square Racing) spent Sunday a week ago with us, he just bought a new Jeep Rubicon and several of us went 4-wheeling.
I rode with him all day and got caught up on NHRA Pro Stock and we talked about this very subject.
These folks are the best of the best when it comes to bar bikes and he said it's so tough because the competition is so close. They are constantly tuning and changing things and each round can change with the conditions.
The Buells recently had to add 10 pounds and NHRA will change the bikes weights as they see fit, then there's also the builder trying to get fuel injection working for them.
I'm looking forward to Ryan and Muzzy getting to the track and Barry has spent a ton and should be making the field before too long........no doubt it's tough.

Thanks Dan! Because if it was rider weight, then Chip should be #1! If it is Money, then V&H with the HD Backing should be #1and with the changine of the rules and the also very rich Army team the back & Forth between the Suzzys and HD is what you would expect!

Seeing Harry Latigue (How ever you spell it) the former owner for RG going a few rounds was also a surprize

You have to remember, harry is the backer for craig now, and craig's always been a small outfit.........., personel wise...., he took all his data with him over to Harry's when they joined forces..........., also, Harry's old truck driver was Craig's crew chief for a while or something to that nature, Harry and Craig have been friends for a long time.........

Basically all the old Craig Treble , Matco tools stuff is over there now.........

Been a while since that last national I was at, been so busy, but I am going to go watch the bikes this year for sure, I like watching them.
