Muzzys ignition advancer for the zx14
anyone else use these?????? we dynoed a good customers zx14 this weekend. We tried adding 5 degrees off the start and saw no gains anywhere so we though maybe going for 10 degrees advance.....the bike didnt even want to start???? so we back it down to 7.5 deg and no gains at all, so then we goto 2.5 degrees and we finally saw results. went from 163hp to 167.
mods to the bike r custom 4-1 acro exhaust, PC3, Secondarys removed, yellow box.
we run a factory pro dyno so its numbers are a bit lower but wondering if anyone has used this at all.

More timing advance generally helps acceleration and doesn't usually add HP unless the factory timing is conservative. 5 degrees is a big change. Any shop who tries more really doesn't know what they are doing.

+1 on what Larry said.
Changing the timing too much is an effective way to cause serious engine damage.
The goal is to get MBT (minimum best timing) that will give max bhp and not have detonation problems. Detonation won't be a limiting factor if you're using high enough octane fuel.
To find MBT:
If you're not sure how the engine will react to timing changes, start with LESS timing than stock. Then advance the timing in SMALL (1 or 2 degree) increments and note the power level increase. When you get close, you will start seeing less of a power increase per degree advance - but still an increase. In a couple more increments power increase will go to zero. Stop. You're done, this is MBT. Do not keep advancing timing to see how much more you can use to get the same power level or, to see how much more advance it takes until the power starts going back down. The goal is to find the minimum advance.
Also, you have a PC3(r? usb?) on the bike. You can use it create a more aggressive timing curve where it will benefit you most (high TPS values) and leave the rest of the map stock so you don't screw with how the bike starts and idles.

muzzy recommended +2.5 degrees for the zx12. Do the instructions have a preferred setting for the zx14 in the instructions? I'm betting its also on the conservative side.
With that said, start with +4 degrees. this is the area where you will see the best gains on the 14.(((this is what I've been told by an Extremely reputable source & multiple dyno runs---we are also right about 4000 ft, not sure if altitude makes any difference in the settings.)))
