Uphill Racer seeks Nitrous Guru
Climber 49 here from Melbourne in Australia
Need help on setting up an '03 /ZX12 for Nitrous System. The engine is going to be used for Hillclimb Racing - Think a short Pike Peak - Hillclimb Racing in Aiustralia is like drag racing uphill around corners!
Ultimately want to get to 250/300hp - but want to get the Nitrous system set up first..
I think individual injectors, progressive controller, ign box, PC and maps.
Am I on the right track here?
Also need a steer on the best products / suppliers / tuners for these systems?
Thanks and Regards
Climber

Just curious how long are the climbs and is it on dirt or road? Window switch a must in case you bump on the limiter. Supercharger might be better if its a longer road course and more linear power than a turbo......... but if its short and straight nos is the cheapest for the short term.
Send us a pick of the bike.

I'm wondering how you could use nitrous in an event like you describe, especially about a 100 shot. Usually, a drag racer will set the nitrous to come on at wide open throttle at, say, 30% and ramp up in a couple of seconds to 100%. Then, once it comes on, if the throttle is let off and re-applied, the 100 shot comes back all at once unless it's set to start a new sequence.
Nitrous is virtually instantaneous. If you are pointed up hill and even a 30 shot comes on, wouldn't the front end be awfully hard to control, especially when the power keeps on increasing at the rate of 100HP in a couple seconds?
My imagination limits Nitrous to be used on flat, straight line events.

You could run into serious traction problems with the nitrous 'HIT' . I don't believe you will
find anything that will truely progressively add 70 + hp smooth enough to maintain traction
and not flip you going uphill. Guys are having trouble controlling the hit on drag track not prepped well. If you really want to try it, I'd recommend starting with a 30hp dry with 1 nozzel progressed over 3-4 seconds.
I not a guru but do have a few years experience with wet and dry.
with just a 30-40 shot no need for injectors, or ignitions box.
a controller, pc, dry kit, and custom map should get you all the power you can use.

I saw this guy on speed vision http://www.pro-hillclimbers.org/profile-dusty.htm
I know that some of the classes run nitro methane and methanol ....not sure about pecentage
anything running that stuff is going to do 2 things.....one of those 2 things is coming apart
without wrenches
it does say on his profile he runs a 1425(I think) Kawasaki

I must apologize...I was under the impression that this was a bike class machine.
Climber is running a car...That would certainly make excess power more managable.
I wonder if the powerplant out of that badass jetski could be adapted to a cool cage.
Just think......supercharged zx12+ pulsed nitrous = I dont think this things gonna let go of me

Yep, that Supercharged 14 engine would be the way to go, just turn up the boost! Those crazy car guys will figure a way to get the power transfered to the ground.
