1st Hardcore Dragbike Series race winner is.... ME!

Awesome day (Saturday the 1st). Byron Dragway in Illinois has the Hardcore Dragbike series. $1000 to the winner. They have a great format, the street bikes all race each other, and the drag bikes race each other, then the winners of each group match up for $1000. Go to 2wheelspeed.com for details. Hot day with pretty bad air. My stock map is too rich, and it showed. Running in the 9.9 range all day, instead of my usual 9.7 dial in at my home track. I made it through the streetbikes without much trouble. Got to let off on every run. In the final, I was up against a 9.1 sec drag bike. He tree'd me with a .543 to my rather slow .585 light. I heard him coming up on me, but at the end of the quarter he had no speed on me. I ran a 9.91 on a 9.90 dial. He ran a 9.19 on a 9.10. The 2002 ZX12R is 4 for 4 this year so far. A great start to the season!

Congrats HRN, $1000 is a helluva nice purse. Way to hand it to those pro bikes - take away the bar, and what do they have? A 400lb GS850? (kidding...)

Mike, I'd say there were 20 street bikes and 30 drag bikes. The poor weather forecast didn't help. I think the race Sunday was rained out, but I don't know yet. The race at Tri-State was. See ya on the 22nd for the Midwest Streetbike Nationals. I be sure to post some more info about that race when it gets closer, with or without Boss Hosses, it will be a good time. Hopefully it will be a great turn out.

Way to go, man. I've never seen that kinda payout for a bike race. What ya gonna blow it on? I'd have it spent before I left the track!

Come to find out, they got the race in Sunday too after a rain delay. A 19 yr. old won on a ZX12. Wish I would have went back. They pay out $1000 on both days.
