M/T B1 vs Shinko Ultra Soft

I replaced my M/T B1 compound rear tire with a Shinko Ultra Soft last night. The B1 compound is not the shootout tire but a medium compound designed to get more than 500 street miles. M/Ts normally sell for around $200 but I had picked one up for $100 so I went with it. The M/T always worked good at the track after a burnout, but it never hooked on the street--not once. I ran the Shinko Ultra Soft last night at BMP, with the performance of the M/T fresh in my mind and I would have to say that the Shinko was superior.

The Shinko work's damn good on the track for the money. For some reason the 190 seems to be lasting longer than the 180.

Good to hear. I was debating going with the 180, but went with the 190 after you went out and measured the contact patch. I've not yet had the Shinko on the street. I think the M/T compound was such that it would warm up quickly with a burnout and then stay sticky for only a short period of time before it would cool off and basically suck. When I'm riding on the street I don't want to have to do a burnout every time I want to do a little blast on an open stretch. That tire would break loose under hard acceleration even at higher mph and spin. I could spin it all the way through 100mph by giving it too much throttle. I hope the Shinko is better on the street, not that I absolutely need a great street tire as the track is top priority, but it would be nice.
