TimChin VTP tool: homemade and handy!!
Timchin lent me a tool kit he fabbed up to measure VTP clearance, and man o' man it does work sweet!!!
One whole hell of a lot easier than goddamn clay.
Set it up and pull down the lever, take a reading. Rotate the motor a few degrees, repeat. There is a llil bit of technique to it, smooth pulls, a lil tap.
Kudos to Tim on his ingenuity and generosity in lending his device to me!!!

Hey Karl,
I noticed in the last picture in the series that it appears as though your cam tower has been modified above the #1L valve. Did you grind that material away or did SK? With all that extra material removed, there's a lot more room to maneuver tools around the tappets. With the stock geometry, there's very little clearance between the lower flange of the cam tower and the gasket surface of the cylinder head.

Tim,
i ground the cam cap while experimenting to get an easier shot at the tappet for degreeing the cams. I have no idea what that lil "roof" is for where the cam cap extends so far from where the cap bolts to the head.
If i remember correctly, the Busa has no "roof" at all. Why not just cut the roof off completely???

Exactly. I think the extension is there for appearance only.

Mike,
I am pretty sure that Tim isn't in to producing them, but I'm gonna make one and I have extra materials. I'll see if i can make templates. But i got other fish to fry until after the mile

If there's sufficient interest, I could look into having some produced. This one is a hand-made working prototype, but profiling that shape with a CNC laser, wire EDM or water jet should be a no-brainer.
