Attention Doug Meyers

I have a Muzzy airshifter that isn't shifting reliable. My dealer(Maple Ridge Motorsports)said they talked to you and you mentioned that noone else was having problems and to use co2 instead of nos.Well my setup requires me to use nos to active the shifter and this kit is supposed to work fine with nos.The shifter will allmost never shift in the burnout box and there is plenty of kill.Do you have anymore ideas before i give it back to the dealer?I'm trying to run nos and don't want to be missing shifts thats why i purchased the most EXPENSIVE kit out.

We've been running NOS in John's shifter for months with NO problems (since I shimed the regulator)...

We DID have problems with the relay "freeking out" (clicking when touched or moved) until I just "let it hang loose by the wires"
I also moved the switching valve under the fuel tank to shorten the air-line to the shift cylinder AND lengthen the supply line hoping to have more volume "ready to go to the shifter" instead of having to wait for the regulator to "react to the demand" could ALL be BS but...it WORKS!!! TROUBLE-FREE!!!

Kcadby,Thanks,at least i know it will work with nos.Do you have the piston bracket mounted exactly 2 1/2 inch on the shifter linkage? So your saying you have a line between the regulator and the relay? My picture showed the relay tapped right into the regulator?

muzzy air shifter

We installed my Muzzy air shifter 2 weeks ago and it is working flawlessly on co-2. I am slowly setting the time delay for shorter delay to find where the line is. The only problem I had was finding a supplier to fill the 1 lb bottle with co-2. After a local welding supply house charged me $30.00 to fill it I got pissed off and purchased a 60# co-2 cylinder and a high pressure (3000#) hose to fill
my own. You also need a good quality electronic scale if you are going to do this. I didn't want to arrive at the track and find out that due to a small leak I didn't have enough co-2 to operate the shifter. I am looking around for a small liquid filled high pressure guage to install between the bottle and the regulator.

Thanks for the reply John.I think the next thing I'm going to try is mounting the regulator, solenoid assembly down closer to the shift piston so it shortens up the air line(as Kcadby suggests).I'm going to try and get ahold of Doug tomorrow and see what he thinks.
