pipe springs

I just got the new pro pipe today and have it in place.I went to install the muffler springs and the bottom one is loose. The top one is fine but I can assemble the bottom by hand.I swapped out with the other springs but get the same results. What are my options? It'll look kind of bush if I just safety wire the bottom together. Is there anyway to shorten the springs?

AA,
I noticed the same thing on my pipe but figured since I'm just hanging it from the garage rafters for now, it was just because it was not mounted on the bike and pulled....I dunno???

I ended up bringing the midpipe to work and had sheet metal guys grind off the tab. They tig welded it back on about1/2" back. There was a full page disclaimer that came with the pipe so I wonder if these were rejects.Still not a bad deal provided you have the resources to make right.

I knew it wasn't the spring because I had tried several others that were on the pipe.
