yep, on the bench.
I used the motor stand for all of the "mock up to measure" work and is was great being able to sit in a chair. 
But when i started assembling it for real, it felt more comfortable for me to have it on the bench and stand up.

those gears did chew a bit of aluminum, but no real nicks.
