new best ET 9.33 @ 147

Finally got back to the track with the ZRX after the oversize valves went in. Also got 4 new sleeves and a piston. The head was left as ported for the stock valves, just the stock seats were cut and blended.Feels strong, and the mph is definitely up from around 144 before. I ran high 146 and low 147 for 5 passes, until I sheared 5 of 6 bolts off my sprocket Still got to race onmy buddy Jay's bike, a '94 CB1000, and won the street class It runs 11.20s.

I am pleased with the power, should be about 166 to the rear wheel. Next is the somewhat hotter intake cam, maybe good for a few hp, and hopefully will kill some
torque off the line and let me get to full throttle quicker. I would like to run a 5 second eighth all motor, and a 3 second 330.

Anyone else race this weekend?

Dean

damn, ZRXDean, you are chasing KC down, eh? you are mooovin'!

I too am going to install a hotter intake cam looking for a few more peak hp. Also, like you I wouldn't mind losing a few hp down low to help keep the front end down. A stiff shock helps, but ...

Good gosh o mighty! That thing is rockin! You gonna go back to a stock wheel or just go with some different studs? The other liners get damaged by shrapnel?

I made a few time trials yesterday. Best was a 9.47 at 152. My mph has really been off lately. Hope its weather but not real sure. Bike is stock length, 17/46. Have to shift just before the traps. Did get my best 60' with the bike short, 1.618.

Mike says I may have my block back next week!

Thanks folks

Kevin, the Dad on hand seems to be way to win - wonder if it works the second time?? We missed you at the track - it was me & Hope in the final
I looked at the wheel, and it will work with the a bit longer, and stronger bolts, and some green loctite. I needed a new sprocket anyway... one less tooth now that I'm going 147 frickin' MPH! I'll save 6th for nitrous, heh heh. Bought a good dremel bit to grind out the MPS manifolds to match the ports - should be pretty.

Ken- hope your bike is OK - that's a big drop in mph. Mike wanted to replace all the sleeves on the block, as a 'precaution': He's had some single-sleeve replacements end up with the old sleeves moving in the block, I guess after going through the heating/pressing/surfacing process, the old sleeves are less reliable. I balked a bit about the extra expense, and he made it a little easier for me.

You were definitely hittin it hard all the way down the track Deanster. Good lookin' numbers on that run.

Great R/T too!

I've been fighting the upper 1st gr wheelie syndrome so far. Haven't raced in 5.5 months, feels like I'm learning all over again!
