What not to do on a new 14

We had a huge payout race a month or so ago at the home track, my buddy just bought this 14............

http://www.shurvalu.com/zx14.wmv

How on earth he came out okay, I will never know..........

I took the bounty for the fastest Kaw, 7.61 at 1000 ft, no dope, $300 bucks, ......., and $750 for the open class bracket win............

He took home a load of crap in his underwear I am sure.........

This is the bike that is on the current King of the Track flyer......., that was pitted next to me at RRR at the June event.......

yeah, it did not feel to good.........

He went home, took the arm off, and sent it to Doug Ray!!!!!!!!

with the arm, he got it into the 7s at 1000ft, but it needs a lot of help......, set up is way off on it still, but he is gaining........

Okay this is why NHRA and other motorcycle associations will not allow you to hard strap the front end down with no travel. If you noticed the bike wheeles in low gear and is okay but when he hits second gear the bike wheeles again and the front end drifts to the left and when it sets down this snaps the bike back to the right causing this high speed wobble. Several of the pro riders have been thrown off like this. We strap our bike like this but im always afraid this could happen. If you do this do not allow the bike to wheele off direction. Notice the rider trying to counter balance the bike with his right leg.

My last NHRA rule book allowed a strap.........

I think they are dangerous, but, just saying........

I have been 7.58, with a 1.45 short time............, in 3000 ft air.........., I can do 1.37s but they are violent with a 5 speed, going to 6 speeds, and gonna try to calm it down........

He was doing 9.7s and 9.8s at RRR

He weighs 100 lbs more than me, total package..........

it really does not matter if you have a strap or not and come down with the wheel cocked... and actually a strap is going to act like a mini steering dampiner and will help in a tank slapper....

I find that totally the opposite the 14 feels planted and stable at high speed, something my 12R never really did...

looks to me like he dumped the throttle when it came up a lil bit, maybe came down cocked, and stayed outa the throttle. If he'd pinned it, i becha he could have avoided the slapper.

thats what i was thinking.
having body parts flopping around usually exagerates the situation too.
Squeeze the tank with knees, stiffen torso and arms, and pin it! Dirtbike style! LOL

Dude. Been there done that about 4 years ago, except mine went bad, real bad.

Get a damper, and leave at least an inch or two travel on the front when strapped.

My 1/8th mile trap printed as 120mph (on the back tire), when I set it down it got violent. Long story short- the bike finished the 1/4 at 26mph by itself on it's right side and I ended up at the 1000' mark in the opposite lane with two broken wrists, and a broken leg/ankle.

Did I mention get a damper?
