Musical Cams
I know we've been round and round on this subject, but when the music stops, what cams do I want for my 1361? I know the quality is there, but $1370 for Muzzy's feels like a gouge....
Thanks,

call delta cam and get them grinded..
Ide go .381 lift on the intake same duration and .369 on the exhaust same duration. To get the most out of cams you MUST extend the rev limit..

My rev limit has been increased by 600 w/the ECU mod. Is that enough? Also, what Cam timing would you recommend, would you go w/heavier springs?
Thanks for your help!

You need heavier springs with aftermarket cams.
The Muzzy cams come with the proper springs, adjustable sprockets, and ti retainers.

Can you gain anything by extending the rev limit on a stocker? How much? Reliability????

640 more is where mine is now... If ridgeracer is successful with his project Ill max out at 1000 more than stock.. To answer you question yes...

keep in mind that strokers can't safely rev as high as the stock 55.4 mm stroke.. 600 more than stock is plenty.. probably 10-15 rwhp.. Since you do have a stroker you could probably add a little duration, but I think the stock duration is fine... you might want to ask Y2K

you can gain mph by adding rev limit on a stock cammed bike.. but not horsepower.. To add horsepower you have to degree your stock cams or go with bigger cams.. but do LOTS of homework before you make changes..

you will gain mph but not horsepower on a dyno... BTW.. With the extended rev limit ecu I spun a dynojet 150 to 200mph plus and it was shut down by the dyno brake.. The horsepower didn't increase it just held the power longer...

Wow so much great advice.
osti, sounds like you might think the Muzzy system is the way to go? Is it the package deal w/matched components? I already have the adjustable cam sprockets, and I can get my cams grinded for a lot less then $1370. Are the springs and ti retainer that expensive?
supra, the delta cams idea is one I'm going to pursue. I do think osti is right about the springs, and ti retainers etc. What centerlines would you recommend. Muzzys uses 105/107.
Thanks,

Megacycle cams will also re-grind your stockers if you want to go that route. You will still need to buy heavier springs and ti retainers.

the stock zx12r and zx10r springs have 35 pounds of seat pressure.. NOT enough for aftermarket cams you need 50 pounds of seat pressure.. So yes change your springs..

are you sure about the stock = 35?? seems way low. 60-65 is where many folks have been running with agressive cams.

pretty sure stock is 35 seat pressure.. As far as extended ecu there is a guy that does it for 200 on this board forgot his name. SBM way over priced at 600.00.. I would wait for ridge racer if possible..

Drag Bike Direct extends the ECU's, I think it's 200 or 250? I haven't used them, just saw someone talking about it on Psycobike.

Yep, Dave O is da Man for the job. By the way you can increase HP on a stock bike with
an extended ECU, just add a little juice.
There is no doubt Muzzy is proud of their products. Shnitz has some springs if your
looking to save a little money, then you can just have them cams welded on and
reground. Ya might want to consider SS valves since ya got her down. I am sure
Mad Mike has some laying around.
