First trip down the 1320 on my zx14
A friend called me and asked if i was going to the track and i said sure if you are going i'll come ...I really didn't want to take my zx14 because i was worried that i would run mid 10 second times ... There is allways lots of Hayabusas at this track and if the zx14 ran mid tens it would be a black day for us zx14 owners , plus give the Busa guys a reason to talk more smack about the zx14 ..
I got there about 7:00 and it was F......ing hot (85 deg) with 80% humidty , not the best air to run good numbers ...So let me give you the detail on my zx14..
Stock wheel base
Muzzy pipe with NO P/C
lowered 1 1/2 in the rear
strapped in the front but not pulled down very tight.
Pump gas 93 octane
41 psi in tires
Everything else stone stock ..
First pass
60 foot 1.72
330 4.356
1/8 6.46 @116.64
1000 feet 8.28
1/4 mile 9.82 @ 145.37
Second pass
60 1.64
330 4.29
1/8 6.42 @114.69
1000 ft 8.23
1/4 9.77 @145.44
Third pass
60 1.66
330 4.25
1/8 6.35 @117.44
1000 ft 8.173
1/4 9.70 @ 146.27
Fourth and last pass
60 1.58
330 4.21
1/8 6.30 @117.89
1000 ft 8.12
1/4 9.65 @145.79
So there you have it , first time to the 1/4 with an avg joe doing the driving... Once i get some more seat time i feel 9.50s or 9.40s will be no problem ..I had a blast killing Busas and Gixxers and now the other guys know the zx14 is no joke ...They all made remarks about the zx14 , most said that thing is sick fast and looks much cooler than the pictures ....
I was more than happy to go 9s the first time out and to run a 9.65 was just made my day !!!!

Very good ETs for the first time out...I almost dont believe you did a 1.58 60', but why would you lie, unless your friend did it for you!!!
Next time you go use 87octane pump gas, put 34lbs in rear tire, strap the front down tight...
You dont need a PC and what gearing do you have?

CrotchRocket you know me ...Remember my green ZRX1200 running low 6s with low 1.40s 60s at Sunshine speedway??.... lol....

I remember you!!!...You know how to ride You made it sound like you didnt know what you were doing
I know your snaping the clutch out, but hold the end of it and twist the throttle on, not like the zrx a little slower so you dont get that bog!!!
The 16 tooth will help big time!!!...Let us know what your ETs are after you go back to the strip...By the way, did you go to Bradenton and run those #s???...That track is pretty good and I know what you mean about it being a Busa populated strip...
I went to Bradenton the day after I met you and ran 9.30,31,33,33, and the 38 was my first pass all the MPHs were 149-151...

Yup that was at Bradenton , great track but the air was not great....This thing is alot harder to ride than my zrx but i'll get the hang of it sooner or later ..
There was a guy there with a zx14 with the same mods as mine but it did have a 4 inch over arm.....9.32@145 he said he let off to set the hook for a few money runs...
I would bet money you could jump on the zx14 and go 9.30s first time out seeing you know how to slip the clutch..My zrx has so much torq i toss the clutch real fast at 4000...Like you said the 16 tooth should help me big time..... i'll post up when i get some numbers ...

A 1.58 is a suckers line on a stock wheelbase bike. You are WAY better than average rider.
PS - 41 PSI doesn't sound right - even at Bradenton....

That why i left the strap lose so it would weight transfer.....Brock said he ran he zx14 with stock PSI ( 41) so i gave it a try and it worked ....If you want bring an air gauge next time you are down at BPM and check it...... At sunshine the track sucks so i let it down to 36 PSI , any more air and it would spin in second gear... At 36 PSI and the strap lose it worked ok

smokin, Brock wasn't getting the 60' your getting...At those 60s, the weight transfer will make you wheelie more!!!...If it spins in second gear you may have got out of the groove...
You may have to set the rear @ 32lbs...Your light, and it wont hurt your MPH...

Thanks CrotchRocket I will give it a try... My main reason i didn't let air out is the loss of MPH but if you think it will not kill the mph i'll give it a shot...
I'm not going to do much more testing at stock wheel base, I'm going to 61 inches and adding a 16 as soon as they come in ....I saw a zx14 dropped and at 63 inches and that thing looked so cool, it should have come that way from the factory !!!

I usually dial in at 9.20 and am about 6 mph slower than the N20 bikes that dial in at the same ET but they never get by me..
