eliminate oil cooler.
After a bad blow bearing material everywhere
I'm afraid that the cooler may be compromised.
This is a track only bike so i'd like to eliminate the
very expensive cooler for this and future rebuilds.
It looks like muzzys relocator kit eliminates the cooler
but i don't really want to relocate the filter.
Any ideas or suggestions?
Why don't someone come up with a cooler flushing service?
I'm sure something could be designed to back fush these things .
MUZZY, APE, SPENCERCYCLE who's up to the challenge?

Thats how it worked on my old LT1 anyway

The oil cooler on my 01 ZX12 track only bike has been eliminated. I use a NAPA gold 1381 filter which goes right where the cooler was. Adams performance did the change and it works well. I also have the cooler available.

Buddy, do you run a dry sump?
What is the purpose in removing the cooler?

I'm interested too.......The cooler is heavy and there is the extra coolant plumbing. So Coby did the removal for you ???? or did you figure out what filter to use ???

Never thought about the loss of oil capacity....maybe a half quart max ??? but that's not a issue for me. I've got the Coby pan with 5 Qts capacity

I had Coby install a motor he had built into my 12 and the oil cooler was missing. It had one of his pans on it and I have never had any problems due to oil. I only use the bike on the strip, tho, and don't know if it was used on the street also if there could be any problems. His pan uses about a quart more than stock, even with the oil cooler gone. The filter seems to be very well made and works excellent. I became more aware of the construction of filters due to the article on filters and oil that redelk wrote sometime back.

I don't know if it affects performance or not, as I have not ran this bike WITH a cooler. I never asked Coby why he removes the cooler, but maybe there is a reason other than the loss of weight. He's the motor builder and a good one. I just accept that he probably has a good reason.

Remember the Oil "Cooler" is more like an Oil controller. Once the Oil heats up, (Which it also helps to do) then it Stablizes the Oil Temp

Why is that important.
If the bike is warm the oil will be warm. right?
