Texas ShootOut - HRP - May 20

Whats the scoop, who will be there?

It will be close, but I do not think my bike will be ready. Looking to
run in the fat boys class if it makes. Just got the last major parts to
my bike in yesterday. Still need some little things here and there.
Hope the old girl will put up 190-200HP after being under the knife.

Heard Ralf's bike is up and running real nice with that mean low first
gear. Hope it don't buck him off.

Buddy are you going to be able to make it, I think I saw that you were getting
a new second gear. Will that Coby Adams screamer be ready?

Entropy, I think you said you were skipping out on this one for a graduation
here in Austin? If you are shooting up here give myself and/or JC a ring if you want
to pick up that stock swingarm on my bike. Have ya been to the track much?
Or have ya been out of the country?

Bossman, I'll see if I can't get JC's and my schedule to mesh this weekend so I can
pick up that crank and shoot it off to ya.

I would like to go, but it is like a 12 hour trip from Little Rock, at 10 mpg in the motor home..............

Only way I could make it is if someone has a larger trailer than me, and I could tow thier stuff with mine in it..........., and split gas costs............

I wish the shootout was closer...........

Yeah, to bad they do not at least try to run it in Dallas. That would bring a big draw
from OK and AR. Twelve hours is a long way to go for a few runs. I'd go 5 hours
and maybe 7 with friends. Gas is running around 2.70 per gallon here, it'll keep
going up if the barrel is going to be traded in Euro's and not Dollars. US will be
in deep sh#t.

Just got word my radiator is done. I had an extra row slipped in for a touch more cooling.
I'll be picking it up tommorrow. Hope it'll keep my stroker 12 from overheating in Texas
traffic. Just broke a record the other day 100F, I think this summer is going to be a scorcher.

Anybody know a good place to get 3-5 inch swingarm extensions for a good price?

TRN,

I haven't decided if I have a place in the Texas Shoot Out or not. I am definately not fast enough to be competetive with the Bittersweet types in SBS and not consistent enough for Top Gas. I would like to go just to see everyone. Looks like the only class I could run in and be competetive is SET useing motor only.

Other than just watching, that looks to be the class for me, but I'm not real high on bracket racing.

Maybe the local tracks are for me and spectating at organized events is what I will end up doing.

As far as my transmission repairs, the parts are not in as yet, but are expected the first part of next week, assumeing nothing is on back order.

TRN,
yep, i'll be in Austin watching #1 Son grad from UT, so no TXO on the 20th. Between festivities i'll try and hook up with you & Johnny. Thx for the loan of the arm.

My bike is running great; still tuning on the clutch but my 60's are back in the (hi) 1.40's so i'm definitely going in the right direction (thx to Buddy). Launching at higher rpm and it takes some getting used to.

Travel continues, i'm in Singapore till sunday and am gonna hook up with Fred (jaws12r) and see how his 1375 build is going

I got my single stage down to the high 1.30s and still tuning......, that was on stock motor........., not monstor motor like you, I might be able to help ya.............., I have some other knowledge, but cant say where I got it, send me a pm............

Yeah Buddy, I think they need to reconsider some of there classes. Those turbo's are almost untouchable. They need to make it competative for the Nos and N/A guys. Maybe
giving a length advantage might help, I don't realy know.

The last time I went it did kind of seem a little tame and not as many people as previous events, but it might just be my imagination.

1.4's, 1.3's that's impressive.

Entropy, congrats on graduating your son!

for those of us not blessed with a lot of hand-eye-brain coordination, a properly adjusted multi stage lockup definately shortens and improves our consistency on short times.

I wish I had a multi stage..........

Although, from what I hear, they are way hard to set up and almost impossible without a data logger........,

Personally, I feel data loggers should be illeagal on all but pro class bikes.

Buddy, what motor combo you got now? HP numbers?

I'm not sure what size it is, I think about a 1375. I think I understood the builder to say it started out as a 1260 but I had him install the crank out of my 1427 that had got ruined. On one dyno, it showed 193 hp. I don't really like to use dynos, as when I use up my motor time, I want to be going fast.

I agree that a multi stage is difficult to set up without help, but I found help and now it is not so difficult. The guy that set mine up had no difficulty at all without a data logger, and it only took 2 runs. He ballparked the first setup, made one run, added one shim to each spring, and it was good.

Cool, I meant setting it up with no help.

No one will give you a ballpark.

What short times was it turning? I am wondering if I could gain over the high 1.30s I am already turning.................

What kind of torque did you get, I know that is the real gain with a big motor..............

I have plenty of pictures. Remember the SuperDave VS Trickey Rickey at Gilliam, Louisiana?
