filter/valve for crankcase breather????
I am taking the crankcase breather off the airbox this weekend and playing around with a vacuum pump. Hopefully I'll get a couple before/after dyno runs on Sat; depends on shop availability.
1. BUT, does anyone have a suggestion on a filter/valve to put in between the crankcase and pump???
2. I have a variety of 1/2" and 5/8" ID hoses and plastic fittings, could go either size on the hose to the pipe coming out of the crankcase. The 5/8" fits but not real tight, the 1/2" is real tight but is gonna be difficult to mount cause the crankcase is kinda hard to get at. Suggestions????

I posted this on Easy's board:
................................................................
i got a FBG vacuum pump a few weeks ago and last night finally went and bought all manner of 5/8", 1/2", 3/8" tubing, plastic elbows, & fittings. etc. Tonight, I will try & put em all together and hopefully tomorrow take my 12 to the dyno for pulls with vacuum assisted and no vacuum.
I have been intrigued by this issue for so long I decided to buy the pump and see what it can do once and for all...
I'll keep you posted if there is interest.
*******************************************
FBG pump costs $240 (expensive experiment!), weighs about 4#, and pulls 25" Hg, but will get about 16"Hg in bike due to non perfect sealing of the crankcase (according to FBG folks).
It's really a bit much for a streetbike sizewise, but since I have a 6" arm, I figure I can mount it ahead of the tire IF it gives the 5+hp it is capable of. I don't know how much juice it takes, but I am going to plug it into the trickle charge pigtail I have mounted on my battery figuring that should handle the amps.
PS
I got it hooked up this am and it pulled 16" on one guage, 17" on another. Damn! Those FBG folks don't lie. Now, I am hoping that my Dyno guy will have time to squeeze a "no vac" and a "with vac" passes today.
*******************************************
just got back from the dyno. Its a DJ 150, but his hp is spot on with a DJ250 where I had my PC3r mapped.
Results of the FBG vacuum pump are just as FBG said they'd be. The vac run started adding hp at about 7500 and progressively added hp up to redline. 3-4hp was added from 10-11.6. Looks like a winner.
The REAL test will be at the 1/4 mi; the effect on mph. That'll have to wait just a bit because tomorrow HRP is closed and next weekend I think there is an "event".
PS: I looked closely at the dyno sheet, gain was 3-4hp, NOT 3.5-5hp; still significant
