.036 jet stock exh. timing ?
i am using a modded stock exh on my 03,and i am wondering with this restriction, would i need to pullout more (or less) timing then with a pipe ? with 2 degrees out,it pulls pretty hard,b/p has been 950-1080

What does the plug read with the setting you have now? Where are you looking when you read the plug... Just asking?
You're making two step tests. Leave one variable (cam) out. Run the engine first with just the ex. mod. Did it help? Step up one jet size and read the plug, and look for a change?
You're adding more fuel, so I'd assume more cam advance to gain more air moving sooner. Move the intake only first. This would be the approach I'd take if in your scenario.

thanks for your response, but the cams have never been touched, just a moderate dry shot (.036 right now) with some fuel added to the map and 2 degrees of ignition timing pulled out
my question really has to do with the stock (pretty modded now) exhaust system,i was wondering if i would need to retard ignition timing more then a motor with a free flowing exhaust system

Nope, won't matter. With a 50 shot just mix some race gas and you can leave the timing stock. On 93 pump I'd guess -2 deg would be fine, but check your plugs after a pass to be sure. -Dean

Well, in that case then, you simply take 1 step at a time. Move the ignition back to stock, install the 37's and do a plug chop with new plugs. If the bike drops on it's face before redline, bring the needles/jets up or down, by how the plug reads? The plug is you x-ray into the engine. This will tell you if aluminum is balling onto the porcelain, and it's super lean, or if you are too fat, where as you feed more (fuel) choke, you can determine which direction you need to go?

thanks again,i appreciate all the help,i have a fair understanding (that may be a huge overstatement ) on how to tune the bike, the reason i posed the question,is n2o motors genneraly need a lot of ''exhaust'' correct ? and i am hadicapping this motor with a fairly restrictive exhaust system
btw no needles or jets,i have a 03 zx 12
