Texas ShootOut

Anybody got the inside scoop for 2006. Are the classes the same or
changed. Heard they might combine 60" with fat boys ( over 230lbs
and 64"), also heard them nitrous riders want a couple extra inches
on the turbo guys.

Any scoop on the dates?

Went over to ShootOut site, but no new info. Figured sombody would have the scoop on dates and stuff. Wow, they seem to be running most in your back yard. Would be kind of neat to see them run one up by Dallas. San Antonio might be a little drive for them Lousianna folk, but I kind of like them small tracks close by. How is Buddy doing? George
had a couple rods a knocking and some valves a tapp'n last night in San Antonio. He'll have to get a build also before March, but I got some Busa stuff hanging around. I think He might consider going to a 1507. I also believe Ralf wanted to get his bike freshend up and a low first gear put in as well, before March.

If HH class does not have 8 then they should have rolled it in with 60" and if those two combined still do not have 8 then roll it into Outlaw/SBS. Just my idiot two cents.

Yep, I think it'll be done. I should be getting OD gears and either going 1270 or stroker as well.

I should be able to make it to Houston on the 19th as the Mile is the following weekend. I'll see if George and I can't get JC to come outside and play a little.

How is the bike running? Have ya gotten a little test and tune time?
Can't wait to see you all out there ripping it up!

buddy is doing fine. Had a piston melt not long ago but got it back together now. Hope to take it out tomorrow to test some problems I had on the last run. Put some bigger nos jets in, adjusted the lock up and the shift linkage. If it is all ok and I don't destroy it before the 19th, I'll be a player at HRP.

Gary,
My motor build went on hold since i started end of year traveling in early Nov; got back from "last" 2005 trip (Monterrey, Mexico) on Dec 30. This shit gotta stop.

Yesterday #2 Son & I finally put the cyl block on, so some progress is being made. No reason it shouldn't be running well before 1st TXO.

Buddy,
Sorry I couldn't make it to yr house over the holidays; just got back from Boston on Fri. Kind of complicated dealing with the aftermath of my ole Dad's quick & painless demise...

If the Heavy Hitters show up with the pre-entries, which I hope they do, we won't have to worry about the rollover. I built my 12 to run heads up and I would hate to have to run ET...it defeats the purpose. I hope enuff of the HHs fill the same way I do.

YCIS-Looking at my post, it seems a little illogical, but there was method to the madness.

When the piston went, I looked for a reason. What I came up with is: when the shop put the nitrous system on the bike, they put the solonoids in the airbox. The nitrous was fed to the jets in the velocity stacks from the distribution blocks by plastic tubeing. At each rather sharp bend of the tubeing on stacks for pistons 1,2 and 3, there were holes where the nitrous pressure had blown out the sides. The No. 3 tube was directing its nitrous directly towards no. 4 stack, which was the only stack that didn't have a hole in it. I feel no. 4 was getting at least twice twice as much nitrous as it was supposed to while the other pistons were not getting near what they were supposed to. I believe this, in addition to only .002 separation in the nitrous jets and the fuel jets instead of the conservatively reccommended .004 separation caused the problem.

Based on this, I replaced the plastic tubing with brass tubing, increased the nitrous jets by .002 and the separation by .004.

With all this, the bike ran perfect, not even popping between shifts. I lowered my 1/8 mile time from a 5.72 to a 5.58 with a not very impressive 60 ft. time and a slight, momentary back off of the throttle when the front wheel lifted. I'm happy.

just got of the phone with Ralf he is pre entering 4 spots. he figures that there will be 4 enteries so with him 5 and like he says it may cost 75.00 more but at least he will have a class. so that mean 3 bye rund first round

I was running a set of Lee's cams (sourced from Web). They got wear spots on the lobe's so i went to Muzzy's. Subsequently some expert or other told me those "wear spots" are no big deal, run em.

When (not if) I fuk up the Muzzy cams, i intend to put the Lee's back in.

Did ya notice a difference between the Lee's/Web and the Muzzy cams?
I might be wrong, but I think Web has a couple intake and exhaust cams with different duration and lift. Did you have the hotter ones?

I am an idiot, but I realy like that lift on dem Muzzy cams, just not the price!
