oil pickup screen: stuff in it
As some of you know I put on the SW & Coby pan primarily to be able to check the screen easily, as I have lost a motor because of a plugged screen...
Dropped the pan yesterday after only 3 passes and 20+/- dyno pulls and found a pretty good amt of red lint in the screen. Not plugged but alot more stuff that i had thought would be there.
The last build was cleaned and assembled in a very, very clean environment and i still got what appears to be shop rag lint in it. Even tho almost all parts were cleaned with lint free paper shop towels.
The good news is that I was 110% extra careful on using the min silicone and there was very little "snot" in the screen.
Making progress slowly...

Hmmm....."still" some stuff in there can't be good.!!
Glad you pulled it to look at it. I wonder how many 12's are rolling around with almost stopped up screens and ready to go at any time??

You know I showed a few pictures of my 12 screen and I have NEVER used a Shop Rag. I use Bounty white Paper towels and a Lot of Brake cleaner. Most of what I saw was (Silicone) and some aluminum which I think came from the bolts that hold the cases together and the Steel from the studs and bolts holding the head down. Very little left for it to be Gears and clutch.

How does this compare to what you had?

You were not here when I posted these pictures, but about 10 to 15 people all "Said" they were pulling their pans and cleaning their screens. I think more may have done it because I posted this on several sites

When I change out my exhaust, I am dropping the pan on mine to clean the pickup screen too.
