Shock Knuckle difference...
How much lower does the shock knuckle allow? I looked up one for sale at Schnitz for $399 i think, but not sure of the effect and how it lets the bike get lower?

after the pan gets modded...its by far the lowest thing on the bike.
I even have a shorter shock assembly (by an inch or so) and wish I could get alot more.

YCIS,
I have a 1" shorter shock, a Coby pan, and Spencer Cycle adj links, strapped forks and the knuckle isn't that much lower than the pan (once the zerk went in the spare parts box).
My current challenge is to get the forks lower; do you have cut forks?? any tips?

I have a speedyfab pan...its a helluva lot lower than even the colby pan from the pics ive seen....the shorter shock is easily 2" lower than the pan itself...if not more when the suspension is stressed on launch.
I currently hvae stock forks lowered 1" in the trees...and I just strap them down all the way at the track (although from what ive seen lately...this appears to negatively impact traction on bikes as long as ours...so im going to go with some of the internal lowering blocks and axe the strap to see if it improves anything). I dont have a snorkel anymore...and with the strap I can get almost zero gap between the fender and the nose now...so thats pretty damn low!
Anyway...I had the suspension setup REALLY soft at the track..and the knuckle dragged the ground anytime id go WOT subsequently breaking the tire loose (fun ride though!) in each gear.
Next trip ill stiffen it up significantly to prevent that much flex in the shock itself and hopefully not bottom out this time.

YCIS,
Thanks for the info.
I also have the forks 1" up at the triple, but the strap won't hold it low enough to keep 2.25" below the front of the pan, so I figure on cutting the forks by 1" in overall length. I don't know exactly how that is done or what "lowering blocks actually do inside the forks, but I do know a racetek expert.

Internal fork mod
Have you already installed the lowering blocks that go inside the forks? I believe that Schnitz sells them. I did the install myself at home.

What does the Knuckle do to the shock to make it lower?
Is there a shock mod to shorten the shock?

Id have to assume its a new knuckle that doesnt hang down do low....or is somehow shaved/modified so its not as low as the stocker....I dunno...its the first ive ever heard of a replacement knuckle actually.
I also have a different shock than the OEM one.

Maybe I need to start a new thread but last evening I was putting on the Belly Pan of the Catalyst Racing Fairing and had to notch out the side slots and grind them on the inside to clear the front edge of the Coby Pan. Anyone had problems with that clearance?
Also for safety, I have mounted 4 serious European Hose clamps under the upper and lower Tripple tree on both legs as added safety to keep the forks from sliding up in case of a hard landing from a serious wheelie.

no problem with the Coby pan with OEM plastics; the BDE Sidewinder is another story. Wideout & I had a dremel day, and now it fits fine.
Good idea on the hose clamps, yep.

No, because the legs could twist and turn not a goot thing.
Brain How is your Monster doing??

how woudl they twist and or turn? (given this is a straight line only application anyway).
Monster needed new injectors....however now its become a chore to get them and the fuel rail to fit back in the bike given the size difference between them and the stockers.
After that...back to the dyno for some retuning and perhaps some higher boost runs if we can figger out how to get the Muzzy EMS to act as a boost controller.

I have learned that the Pro-Link adjustable shock knuckle does NOT really contribute to lowering the bike. It is more about adjusting spring tension ratios without buying a new shock.

Are you wanting the linkage to stay the same as it lowers? If so I cant help you. This will change the leverage of the shock set up.
