TANK SLAPPER

So i went to my local 1/8 mile track this past thursday nite with , so i can try and peactice some of the things i learned at DBZ GR..

on my first run took off pretty good... bike lifted slighty but when it came down it snatched the bars out of my hands and i was on a BUCKING BRONCO.. reached for the bars only to get my pinky pinched, right foot fell off peg .... i was on the left lane..i passed the 1/8 mile mark in the right lane... ...when i was finally able to grab bars i hit no brake and held them lighlty to let the bike fix itself....

on my second run it did it again but not as bad while i was in second..

front tire at 42 psi and not cupped...

track is not the best in the world...

what did i do wrong?

if you come down a bit crossed up and let off the gas you are screwed unless you have a damper.

when it starts to wobble, pin the throttle and don't fight the bars, it will straighten out all by itself.

kinds counter-intuitive, but it works.

Voz, try to keep even pressure on the bars ( alot of new DragRacers drift to the left because they are twisting the throttle wide open and pushing the bar causing you to drift to the left )...your probably not holding the bars hard enough...Slam that thing dude...

What Karl said is true...all it takes is to comedown a little crossed up,when that happens it seems to upset the chassis on the bike...we all have encountered it at one time or another..don't fight it like Entropy said, dont hit the brakes either...did you make any good passes??

I believe Jason might of mentioned about not bringing your feet up until 2nd gear.First gear is when you have the highest torque and raising your feet then tends to have you pulling on the bars.Hence, you cocked it alittle bit to one side. The second time, did you just shift?I saw a lot of guys moving their arms alot when they shifted. If not how about double checking the tubes and make sure they are pushed up equally in the triple tree.

$500 now vs. $50,000 later.

Forget the bike, I'm talking about HUMAN REPAIR COSTS.

Get a damper.

What Demographics? Po Vincent! I cant afford both "O's" let alone the "R" . To get to Maxton Last Year, I owed Randall over $1,000 to get there (qand that is with his employee Discount. I finally got him paid and left the Heater Blanket switch on and Killed a New (September 2004) 20 Amp/Hr Battery.

Remember, lowering the front makes the steering QUICKER (Read easier for Head Shake) then 02's and later had quicker steering to begin with (I think Turbo Blew had a few problems with the difference between 00 and 02 and HAD to buy a Steering Dampener)

Mis-aligned wheels threw me off my old H-1 500 over 30 years ago and caused me to build a tool that I have used to find every Kawasaki I measured was off by 1/4 inchwith the rear wheel usually pulled up on the left side causing the bike to normally want to turn right.
