Longevity of a Stock Clutch basket???
Anyone have any Info. or Input on the Longevity of a stock clutch basket???
We all know a Falicon Billet Basket is a must!!!...But what's the most passes anyone of you guys got from the OEM clutch basket???...Did it break or maybe you just took it out before it broke???
I have around 60 + passes on my OEM clutch basket...I have done only a visual inspection to my basket and BrooklynZX12s OEM clutch basket, which has the same 60+ passes on his and found nothing but splinter cracks around the assembly marking stamps...In both our OEM baskets the splinters were identicle so I would say it's not a problem just part of assembly...
Any other input would be appreciated by all !!!

never done any 1/4 mile passes on my bike, but for what it's worth: i have around 30k miles on my 12, including a fair amount of abuse, and i'm still on my original basket & clutch. seems to work just fine.

On hard dragstrip launches I saw a local guy hand grenade one in 5 to 7 passes with a stock motor...Ouch! Bike had about 900 miles on it. That was his frist time to the track.

We ran from 2000 to 2004 with the stock basket and no problems. Well over 200 passes including 9.2s with 1.4 sixty foots and numerous top speed runs over 200mph.

You might want to ask a customer of mine. His stock basket exploded at around half track and locked the bike up sending him sliding down the track at around 120mph. A piece of the basket wedged in between the crank gear and basket gear. He was lucky and only suffered minor scratches but his bike didn't fare to well.
Another friend of mine had part of the his second stock basket go through the lower case when it exploded. That one was expensive also.
Another customer of mine had his stocker blow up during his heat race. This car isn't even shifted once the flag turns green.
Only mods on all these motors is a pipe. Believe they are all 00s.

Amen TB.... you guys are playing with LIVE handgrenades with the pins pulled!!! I pulled mine out because we got rained out on a sunday... and was going to send it in after the weekend. good thing we got rained out, cause mine had cracks in the fingers.... could have lasted 1-20 passes you never know. I seriously doubt 20, probably 1-3 passes....
it is just to risky not to change it.
Lorcan, dude you are so lucky!! I have seen guy's that like to wheelie blow up baskets just from shifting and yanking it up hard.

We started with the stock bike running 10.1s and worked up to a 1270 with an arm and a Muzzy centre hub followed by a lockup all on the stock basket. I have launched it as high as 11,000rpm on a good track (and yes, it stood on end ), although 7-8000 is more normal. We never launch at low rpm. No bars or slicks. We fitted a billet basket end of last year as a precaution after reading all the horror stories but, yeah, probably we were just lucky. As far as I know the stock basket was fine when it was removed.

Stock motor, stock pipe, 17/46, K&Ns
What it looked like when I took the cover off
Pieces that fell out of the cover
Inside the oil pan
Strained some oil
Oil filter on the bike when the basket let go, few hundred miles on the oil

Yeah my wife hates it when I bring parts inside to work on them but as you can see,the parts are easy to spot on the carpet.

My stock basket lasted almost the whole season race and street riding.
When it blew i sent it to falicon and borrowed a basket from a friend who
was down. Before my basket was back i had exploded his basket also!
Any questions?
